Played Forbidden West for a while, but it ran like gash on my card, which is starting to struggle. May be time to shell out for a 4080. In the meantime, gone back to RDR2, to which I've added some really great mods which have breathed new life into it.

It seems they weren't willing to pay like Nike or Adidas probably, but I really liked all the New Balance designs.  The 18-19 home ones with the collar is maybe my all-time favorite with the possible exception of the 86-87 kit (which I had to buy in a S because it was the last one in the shop.  It barely fit then and I'm only 50 pounds heavier now.)

Learnings for Slott (he won't have encountered):

The number of games we play 60+ v 40
Crazy scheduling -  Christmas and Saturday noon kick-offs after South American games on Thursday
The League cup
The Everton (and to an extent Man United) games that define their season.
Man City, Arsenal; 2 of the beat teams in Europe. And the rest of the top half probably superior to all the the Dutch League.
Different premier league rules regarding what constitutes a foul
Referees determined to be unbowed by the Pressure of Anfield
Typically xenophobic pundits, the Koeman and Ten Haag experience in the premier league hasn't done him any favours
The CL format means no dead rubbers so we could run out of steam at the business end of the season.

You'd advise him to start the players slow and keep a bit in the tank - but of course if we draw a few games early on or god forbid lose a couple he'll be under a lot of pressure - it's hard to navigate. Good luck Arne  ;D

"With India’s election in full swing, Narendra Modi is getting desperate – and dangerous. The Indian PM may still be in a strong position; but incendiary, anti-Muslim rhetoric shows that all may not be going to plan." - https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/apr/29/india-election-narendra-modi-anti-muslim-rhetoric

His speeches are getting hilarious, of late.

Geertruida is in the last year of his deal and Feyenoord won't let him leave on a free. They wanted €30m last summer when RB Leipzig were interested

That was true when Klopp was at Dortmund though.

We didn't outperform teams who spent more than us under Rodgers bar one season and Dortmund haven't outperformed teams who have spent more than them since Klopp left.

So for me, it is how much was down to Klopp, and if it was can Slot replicate that over achievement?

I mean even if you think that Edwards was massive part of us overachieving, can Hughes replicate that. For me there are enough imponderables to assume we will be guaranteed top 4 moving on.

It's certainly difficult to predict whether Slot can replicate that. One possible cause for optimism though is that he has done in in the Eridivisie. Ajaz, PSV and AZ have had a far larger net spent over the past five years than Feyenoord, yet they have finished first and (more than likely) second in the past two seasons.  As I say, it's really impossible to predict if he can replicate something similar at Liverpool, but it's encouraging to me that he has managed something similar at least in the past.

Been a mad few days with Mo….
My take on it is he’s not right since the injury, he’s playing shit and not involved in the games and the frustration boiled over at the weekend. It’s part of football but it’s mostly kept to the dressing room.

Signing a new contract might make business sense, it locks him in for another season and we can sell him the year after. Without a renewal if he stays next season he can go on a free at the end of it (is that right?) I do think he has another season in him at least. He has enough credit in the bank to be allowed a dip in form, and it’s not just him that’s dipped. Mo will be 32 next season and if he stays some reinvention will be needed, a new manager might get a new tune out of Mo.

Premier League this calendar year.

Haaland
7 goals 1 assist
Missed 1 game

Salah
5 goals, 2 assists
Missed 6 games

Both were the top scorers going into the new year, only one had AFCON and multiple injuries since.

Maybe City should sell the robot as he's fallen off a cliff or something :lmao

If Haaland was 32 in 6 weeks the comparison might be vaguely relevant.

Last year was defo the time to cash in (if all parties wanted it, which it sounds like they didn’t). But that was then and this is now.

If I was a betting man, I’d bet on Salah killing it next year, runs his contract down, Liverpool fans hoping he signs a new deal, and then a queue of clubs lining up to take him.

That’s why I say … sign him up now whilst the chips are down ;)

Hate to say I told you so, but I would be lying ;) They want to extend Salah’s contract because Mo is gold class and will be rejuvenated next year.

There’s one thing I understand - the contrarian investor mindset, and these guys that run the club are not scared to swim against the tide to extract value. Salah contract extension is the equivalent of a “bear market investment”. Sign him up now when it’s easy and demand is down , he gets off to a flyer next year and his value on a long contract soars … wouldn’t surprise me if they try to cash in at the end of next summer with Salah in better form and in a longer contract.
