Half Time: Real Madrid 0-0 Liverpool
« on: March 15, 2023, 08:48:09 pm »
Madrid are broadly in control and started brilliantly. Some bright moments for Liverpool but nothing doing.

I expect goals in the second half for either side due to Liverpool’s growing need.

We're doing about as well as can be expected in the circumstances. If that was the first half of the first leg we'd be lauding a decent European away display - alas, it's not enough when you start 3 goals behind. Both sides have had some decent efforts on goal but no breakthrough as of yet.

Get the first goal and you never know.

We're giving a good go but just lacking that real bit of quality, Madrid's passing is light years ahead of ours.

Did Madrid sign Felix Zwayer in the January window? he's been excellent for them.

How did Rudiger not get punished for that tackle on Nunez. Two feet off the ground and followed through.

Done ok but has a massive dead rubber feel, we have no belief and they're in first gear. Still, would be nice to win on the night.

Keep getting the ball to Darwin, by far our biggest threat.

The ref is a complete and utter c*nt but we're so naive with these cheap fouls it does my head in.

You'd think that by now our players would be wiser and wouldn't fall for Madrid's antics. And what the fuck is it with Trent's corners?

I didn't expect to go through necessarily but that first half was poor. We've just let them play around us for the majority of the match and don't have the fight or urgency I was expecting.

Jota has offered absolutely nothing and I'd like him off for Bobby at HT.

Hung on in there early but we’ve had some good moments. I’d be tempted to take Trent off, he’s been gash. Can’t even take a decent corner these days.

Content with the scoreline and the effort. Fortunate not to be a couple of goals down really. Quite an even game but they've had the best chances. We've got to work the ball better in the final third.

Doing alright just needed that Origi moment. This is there to be made uncomfortable, crowd isn’t into it at all
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Trent's corners have been woeful. Other than the cheeky one he tried they've all been hung up in the air and easy to defend. We've had our moments but I think should have got a goal if we were to come back here.

Fucking hell. Passing the ball around the back like we’re 4-0 up :lmao

The way we’ve gone from a fast paced attacking side with plenty of dribbling and skills to slow/sluggish and no dribbling ability in the team is an absolute joke.

We've been alright tactically. I find Macca's suggestions to take more risks strange because as we found out in the first le, they prey on mistakes.

Alisson has been incredible. Doesn't get enough credit.

Well least it's still 0-0, thanks to Allison.

We just don't look like we can break them down and get a good shot on target, we've had 1 decent shot from Nunez and it didn't even look to be going in. Trent has been woeful, it's a complete mismatch between him and Jr.

Our midfield is non-existent.

Really need a new plan second half.

If that was the first half of a first leg away from home I think we'd be showering praise on a professional performance. But, losing by 3 goals in Madrid and playing 4 up front that was as uninspiring as it gets.

The miracles are used up I feel. Oh well, just continue to give a good account of themselves and push for top 4 then hope Pep head fucks himself again. What a fall off in joy after last season's taste.

The lino flagging Gakpo for offside towards the end there  :butt :butt :butt Learn the rules you daft c*nt

Both sides playing a bit within themselves despite little bits of qualities. Goalkeepers performing a bit better than they did in the first leg. Ultimately it's bound not to happen you'd feel.

Saw someone mention big odds for 0-0 before the game, glad I put it on as I can see it coming in now.

They are so good. Jota has not been in it and they make a couple of passes and completely take 6 players out of the game but that's what we expect with the formation.
