I'm currently playing FM so i can't really talk! Perhaps i should have said Fifa. But you know what i mean some people think football is so simplistic. Stick 11 attacking players with flair on the pitch and you'll win.

Aye, I do know what you mean mate!

Thankfully this saga is over. Hopefully, his crossing and Carroll = more badly needed set play goals, something we have been lacking for many, many years.

Totally failing to realise that there is more than one type of central midfielder. Lucas will be playing regularly simply because he does a particular job better than anyone else at the club i.e. track back, get a foot in, break up play. Every successful team in the history of the EPL had had one of these, Viera, Keane, Makalele, McMahon, Souness.

Adam will be competing with the likes of Stevie G, RM for the other central spot, given that we will be signing a winger and most likely play something close to 4-4-2, Kenny's preferred formation, I can't see him getting much field time.
That will be a pretty interesting debate about our formation because I think (in case we don't get Downing) Carroll will be the biggest loser. It may be due to injuries, but the team looked more fluid with Carroll out. He also didn't seem to fit in that well when he played.
I'm almost certain we will look to play a 4-2-3-1 formation with the Mascherano/Xabi combo back in the form of Lucas/Adam. Rather than Suarez, I think Gerard will make a come back to the Attacking Midfielder position with Suarez on the Left, Kut/Hendo on the right. The problem with those three players is that they don't play Carroll to his strengths. So if Downing doesn't arrive, I think that the Pragmatic thing to do is return to what worked with us; that I think will be using Lucas next to either Gerard/Adam, Meirelles/Aquilani in AMC, Kuyt and Maxi on the right and left respectively with Suarez as the lone striker. Aquilani and Meirelles as it stands are more important to Liverpool right now than Carroll. That is unless Kenny is planning for Charlie's long balls to land on Carroll's head rather than to spray the ball on the wing as the former Blackpool player did most of the time last season.

The same people moaning about him coming here would be moaning like mad if the mancs got him. Its beyond belief that a player who had a cracking season last year, we get relatively cheap, will service the best header of a football in the world is getting slagged off before he has even kicked a ball.

You're making yourself look foolish now.

Agreed although he has a point about Aquilani tackling more than Adam.

Aquilani has been playing at times as a DM for Juventus this season. More a Pirlo than a Gattuso in that role but he's been sticking his foot in plenty. I saw someone compile statistics that show Aquilani attempted and completed more tackles per 90mins than all our midfielders bar Lucas in 2010/11.

Personally I think we could see some Brazilian-esque formations from Kenny this season as we now have the players for it. They play 2 DM's and 2 AM's with no wide players. One of the forwards (Suarez) will drift into channels on one side, AM's take turns in drifting wide on the other side.

I expect us to have 5 from Gerrard, Raul, Adam, Downing, Henderson, Aquilani, Maxi on our books at the start of next season. All of them could do those AM roles well. However my primary concern is we still have no cover if Lucas is injured. I wouldn't trust any other partnering of our midfielders to get the job done defensively.
My first article on Anfield Index on Shaqiri. Enjoy. bit.ly/2mAq3Qd

Realistically his competition was Reina, Carra, Agger, Gerrard, Meireles, Maxi, Cole, Suarez and Torres.

I think you have something against Lucas because even the Mancs started praising the guy. The matches where we beat Chelsea and United he was arguably our best player. Yet you say he went missing.

Anyway, this thread has little to do with Lucas.

Nor does it have anything to do with anime, which I hope you know more about than football.

Your assertion that these signings are only acceptable because Dalglish is making them is such rubbish, I don't think anyone can take you seriously ever again.
The one most important thing that we all must remember, in case it slipped our mind, is this club is much more important and bigger than anybody. I'll never forget that and anybody that does is being a wee bit irresponsible and stupid I think because the club is more important than any one individual. The Club is, The Club.

Did I say he went missing in the chelsea and united games? Did I really???

Also, you really have little credibility here when your suggesting that Torres, Maxi, Cole, Gerrard etc. were candidates for player of the year. Whats your point here?

And like I said, the lad did well, he was better than those, but he was injury free, and reletively consistent. He's hardly a world beater though.

Masch was 5 times the DM he is.
