Meant 12, but you get the point.

I know, I know, I've just always wanted to use that face.

Didn't we beat them 11-0 not a million years ago?

Tickets arrived this morning - well psyched. Just an hour up the road - can't wait ;D

Doni
Flanagan - Skrtel - Wilson - Robinson
Spearing - Shelvey
Cole - Meireles - Maxi
Carroll

This is the team I would go for. We should win this one comfortably with this line-up.

I'd give Sterling a run out and maybe Cody on the bench.

Wont even bother suggesting Aquilani now as its clear that he's going to get sold. We have no intention of playing him whatsoever  :-[

The only certainty is that Doni will be in goal.
Oh, and Spearing will be in the centre.
Other than that fuck knows who will start but i know it won't be 95% youngies like everyone seems to think.
Fired?? He should be shot! With shit, human shit!

------------------------Doni-----------------------------
Flanagan--Kyrgiakos--Skrtel--Robinson/Insua*
Johnson**--Spearing--Henderson--Maxi
----------------Shelvey---------------------------------
------------------------NGog----------------------------

*Play whichever is going to be the backup left back this season
**Assuming he's fit enough to play

Subs:

Pepe
Wilson
Coady
Suso
Kuyt
Meireles
Wisdom

I'm assuming the likes of Poulsen, Cole, and Aquilani are off, so there's no point in playing them or putting them on the bench.

Play the kids to be honest and use the league cup for experience.

Wilson, Shelvey, Flanagan and Robinson should certainly play.

I'd also consider using Wisdom and Sterling.
I'm really hoping Sturridge busts out the wacky dip when he scores.

From what I've heard, Shelvey may have blotted his copy book last week. We'll see if he's involved on Wednesday because if he is not that will speak volumes.

I'd expect a reasonably strong side out with not too many young lads. I think Robinson, Flanagan will play with Skrtel and perhaps Wilson if they are trying to move Soto on too. However, Kenny will not want to lose this so I'd expect to see a few of the big guns on the bench.

He may even start Suarez if he thinks he needs some game time. Make no mistake, with no European football Kenny will not want to go out of this competition early, indeed he will targetting it. Silverware is silverware.

I think Kenny will want to use his squad but he won't risk a defeat. It may be an idea to have a bench with 3 big players and 2 kids like Raheem and Andre. If it's going well use the young lads and if not bring on Suarez etc.

It'll do nobody any good if we play too many young lads and get beat.

I think Dirk/Suarez and Carroll will all want a bit of the game anyway. Certainly the first 2 who have been subs over the first 2 games and probably Carroll too because as a No 9 he'll want to net to get off the mark.

I don't think he showed the required attitude when he went down to the Nextgen level and he's been told he can go eleswhere if he wants. Whether that's permanent or loan I don't know.

We'll see on Wednesday if it's true. If he doesn't get a game we'll have the answer.

Forget Aquilani or Insua.

I can see us being very hard-nosed about this to try and force some players out of the club ie if they don't get a game in the League Cup it's not happening for them here. Cole/Poulsen/Soto could all fall into that camp.

Oh I knew about him being not arsed for the Sporting Lisbon game, but interesting to hear the rest of it. Dunno but it'd seem a bit of a knee-jerk reaction from Kenny to sell him without giving him a kick up the arse and a chance to straighten up first.

I think a loan would have been on the cards anyway like.

Agreed re the loan anyway and what was said may well have been done as a kick up the arse too.

He is still a young lad and can change opinions yet with a bit of hard work and humble pie but I did get told he was told he can go and not in a good way.

I don't think Aquilani actually will...i just couldn't decide who to put so just chucked him on there. :P If he really doesn't play though - not even a sub - i'll rest assured he's going before August ends.
I agree that he will certainly go for it but I don't think he will go as far as putting Suarez on(who doesn't really need match fitness, just rest). I sincerely hope he doesn't play Cole but I feel like Kenny is wanting to give him a chance to prove himself this season and will keep him.

I didn't realise this was on tele so I'm quite pleased with that. I've only got SS1 so I was pretty pissed off yesterday.

I'd like to take this competition quite seriously this year and play with a mix of experience and youth as opposed to fringe players and kids.

Would like to see Sterling get a game in this.

Time to play in "Glen Joooohnson on the wing" (we had dreams and soooongs to sing). My team:

Doni; Flanagan, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Robinson; Spearing, Meireles; Johnson, Aquilani, Maxi; Kuyt. Subs: Jones, Wisdom, Coady, Shelvey, Sterling, Cole, Carroll.

Think it'll be a strong team with the likes of Skrtel, Maxi, Aurelio, Meireles all starting

Doni

Flanagan
Skrtel
Soto
Aurelio

Maxi
Spearing
Shelvey
Meireles

Aquilani
Ngog
Didi Hamann

In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.

I don't think that'll be too far off the policy. I think we'd let Soto go now and as I said above, it'll be interesting to see if Shelvey is involved.

If we treat this like a trainging exercise for some squad members and youth teamers to "get some minutes" then we deserve to lose.

Carroll, Henderson, Adam should all start again so they can get some playing time together against worse opposition. Meireles, Maxi and Skrtel in for Agger but otherwise unchanged from Arsenal.

With no European football this year I would be very suprised not to see a stronger team than some have mentioned.

                    Doni
Johnson  Soto Skrtel  Flanagan  (or if Johnson not fit then Flano on right with Robinson on left)

Kuyt       Spearing  Aqua   Cole
                      Raul
                    Carroll

I even think that Suarez may play some part to build up some match fitness.

That should be plenty strong enough to win.

That's pretty much the team I'd ahve said. Dalglish certainly won't want a repeat of last seasons farce against Northampton, and will emphasise to whoever he picks that they must treat the game seriously. Exeter will be fired up, but if we're on our game then we should win comfortbaly. 3-0.

Its a must win game. This season we must win a trophy with no Euro futbol.

We must go for the Carling Cup all out as we must the Prem Lge and FA cup. With a squad as big as ours we can cope and should be aiming to win the Carling Cup.

Not too fussed on a particular team but I hope Carroll is given a chance to get some goals and Sterling gets a few minutes.

The main thing is we have a plan B on the bench this time.
