Uefa times are CET..add an hour to that for Turkey.

Just checked the weather and it looks like it will be not too bad, not quite shorts and t-shirts but not freezing either, I'm not sure if any of us would have made it we were playing away for the first leg.
In my day everbody drank and smoked and nobody took drugs. . . . . .

10 Euros and a bizzie escorts a decent deal.

Last time we used this service, my uncle was "banging on the window singing that Luis Garcia song" and it went through and he followed it onto the road and broke both arms and missed the fuckin game

Beşiktaş have sold 67,000 tickets for the match. This is according to a Beşiktaş fan I met in 2005, I have been in contact with him since the draw.
That's 67k plus whatever we take.

It's going to be a brilliant atmosphere, if true.

Hi everyone, I'm an old member (apparently had an account created eons ago and never used it). I am traveling to Istanbul for the game but I do not have a ticket. Should I buy one off the internet to sit with the home fans or would it be too dangerous considering: I am Arab (Palestinian) and I can pass as a Turk based on appearance (I speak a little bit of Turkish as well).
ALTERNATIVELY, any way I could get a ticket to sit with the traveling kop?

On a related note, I've been to a CL game in Istanbul, and here is my experience:
Match: Galatasaray vs. Real Madrid, second leg of the CL quarter final. They lost the first leg 3-0 in Madrid so this game was pretty much useless, but the atmosphere was great nevertheless at Galatasaray's ground.
I was with a friend and we had tickets for the away section. We were not wearing anything indicating that we are away fans (no RM jerseys, scarves or anything). When we got to the fences around the stadium we asked the police for directions to the away section and two policemen insisted on walking with us to it to show us the way (they told us that a couple of Galata fans were attacked in Madrid, hence the protection). After they showed us the gate, we were allowed to either roam outside the stadium or to go in the stadium until kick-off (Kick-off was 2 hours away).

We walked around the stadium, went to the GS store and bought some stuff (scarves, a jersey, a mug etc.). For some reason when we tried to enter the stadium, many fans were forced to leave whatever we bought outside for no reason, some people were even forced to keep their DSLRs with ONE policeman standing outside (Not at a dedicated kiosk or office, with a single policeman who didn't speak English or Spanish). Luckily for us we had some of the items we bought and a DSLR camera in a backpack which they did not search. All what the policeman did was literally write names and numbers of people on the bags (including plastic bags, using ink that fades easily). That was funny they did all that because in the second half, they started letting some ticketless Galatasaray fans into the away end (it was far from full)

After the game ended, many fans found out that their cameras, bags etc. were stolen, and the policeman (and the security forces in general) couldn't do anything about it, which was shocking. My loss was limited to 80 or so pounds, but some people lost items worth 300+ pounds. Finding a cab was not easy although the stadium is in the city and is not as far as the Attaturk stadium. The cab driver that took us back accepted the fee of 40 Liras, only to bulls**t and claim that he said Euros when he dropped us to the hotel. After arguing he took 50 liras.

- Do NOT take any valuables with you to the ground
- Be very careful and suspicious

I am a frequent visitor to Istanbul (Will be my 5th visit in 4 years) and here are some tips:
- Expect sh*t English, even at the airport, hotels and restaurants (unless you're going to fancy establishments)
- Expect to be ripped off by many people (or that they'd try to rip you off at least). Especially cab drivers. For every journey, insist on using the meter.
- Use the metro/underground whenever you can, there are some good apps for it to show you the way
- Enjoy the city! Istanbul is a beautiful city. If you're staying for more than 1 day there check out Sultanahmet
- Walk in groups whenever you can. Police presence is heavy in Taksim and the surrounding area, and it's quite safe there, but in other areas it can feel dodgy. I never had any issues though myself, but I can pass as a Turk so maybe that's why.

100% sure? Last time I didn't book a ticket in advance in Europe I had to buy double the price of a ticket by a tout outside the ground  :-[ (Valencia vs. Seville in last year's EL).

Any reason for that? (as in, why 4,000 were sold and why only 1,000 would show up).

Also, how much were they sold for on average? (Just so I know how much I might be ripped off :D)

There's 9 of us going over but somehow we've ended up with about 15 tickets from numerous season ticket holders credit hunting. We're taking the tickets with us so if anybody in need of any whilst in Istanbul then we'll probably be around Taksim. That's where our hotel is.
Really looking forward to this one

Also any idea how long it takes from the airport?

If you just walk out the terminal there are buses going to Taksim every half hour. About 4 quid. Dead easy to find.
It's about 45 mins to square depending on traffic

Seriously, don't buy one from Viagogo there is no need at all. You will pick one up over there guaranteed. I am taking 1 spare, so will loads of others, you can have it for nothing if you are worried about not getting sorted. But just ask on the Weds and someone will have one.

Ahh nice one.  I'd have thought these would have dispatched the STH/Members together.  Probably not arsed the T.O. as they know most aren't going; except that I need mine!

Yeah. Last time I was there, I was just passing through and had to get from one airport to the other for my connection.
Just walked out of terminal doors, there was a couple of white buses there, asked for Taksim and paid on the bus.
Think they are called Havas or something like that.
