Being a Brit could explain my liking for the food. The food here in Germany is good but, in my opinion, doesn't beat British food.
The takeaways here are Italian, Turkish, a Bakery or Macdonald's, don't compare with a chippy.
Pie and mash needs a good gravy on it.
Visiting my mother in Devon the other year, I had a pasty from the local bakery and was really disapointed, mainly pastry and little filling. However, it gave me the idea to make my own at home. A mix of mince, onions and cubed potato with taste powders to suit done in a frying pan. Leave to cool a bit. Then a roll of pastry from the supermarket. Wrap the mix in pastry and bung them in the oven for a while. With a Chilli gravy, tastes great. An easy meal.
(I cook everything with Chilli)
