To be fair to council the matter is not quite in their hands. The club can make no application without land owners' permission. And council can't give consent without an application.

Apologies, then I agree with you totally.

Things like the G&H design look way too sparkly and flash, with too much space and glass for my liking. Ideally i'd just want what we have now, 4 stands just 33% bigger then what we have now (kind of like the Dortmund ground at a superficial level), and if we can fill the corners in at a later date if the deman is there, great.

That's a truly woeful design. If we do build a new stadium I'm convinced that the owners will want something with character. The single tier kop in that design doesn't stand out and I missed it at first. I just can't see them building a bowl.

It's basically the Parry dome with pillars. Horrible. LFC needs a unique stadium if the decision is made to build a new stadium.

Although there are some obvious bloopers in it (convex corners, sight distances in some areas...), it does seem to follow a lot of the 'rules'. Just goes to show how hard it will be to get a proper football ground out of a new stadium.

And this is what concerns me most about a new stadium. It will be impossible, with the current regulations, to create anything that anyone who has ever been to Anfield would recognise as a stadium that Liverpool FC should play football in.

We've been to many grounds and made them as loud and intimidating as Anfield is. It's the fans that make it not the stands.

Our away support is magnificent but it's never been as loud and intimidating as Anfield in full cry.

Unfortunately 'full cry' doesn't come around so often - perhaps a result of too many season tickets and too many aul' fellas sitting on their hands. The aul' fellas being the ones who can afford the season ticket prices - a situation that can only get worse in a new stadium.

If the fans who make most noise can't get in because of the cost of the stands, it's the stands that make it worse not the fans.

As far as I know there was no extension of planning consent. Any new 'deadline' on signing the lease for the park was it seems deliberately left vague.

A reason would be to give the situation as long as it takes to sort out rather than kill it off.

Can we wait for some other confirmation of this story. Bascombe is not a considered a good source after his stint at the NOTW.
