Considering his lack of experience at this level, he had a solid outing against forest. Probably needs a year's loan out at a lower division, a la Bradley at Bolton, before we see him performing to his potential levels.

Not every player needs a loan. He is firmly in the 1st team squad now.

He is gaining experience around work class players everyday plus he is now getting 1st minutes.

I would be surprised. He looks at home in the first team squad and Klopp clearly rates him. All depends on what the new manager thinks. I would guess it is more likely that McConnell goes out on loan, we sell Morton and maybe loans for Danns and Koumas.

Agree. He could also do a Jones and just graduate to the first team without needing a loan. Depends on his growth from now and the new manager and his plans.

He needs some work in the gym over the summer. Can be a decent squad option next season.

Another good cameo from him.  He's not blessed with amazing pace - similar to Macca, I think - but he has a real knack of getting a toe on the ball when he needs to.

If we'd had Xavi and Iniesta come through our youth team half of us on here would have had them benchpressing for six months before we let them get near the team  ;D

Thought he was excellent when he came on. Worked his socks off and showed good quality on the ball. He's really progressing well.

Delighted for him to get his first goal, thought he played really well again. Made the third goal as well.

Hopefully the knock he came off with is a minor one.

Made up for him. Fully deserved his goal. Played well once again.

Incredible the words Klopp used.

Just hope his injury was just a knock. He runs and runs!! Press and press!

what a few months for Clark. now been a key contributor in all three knockout tournaments (plus the league obviously too), and truly established himself as a trusted player over the course of just two months (feels like his sub appearance at arsenal in the cup was the true beginning of him as more than just a prospect)

glad he got his first goal. been saying I think it's coming, he seems to choose his shots well and try to place them (been unlucky that a couple have been blocked). his assist was a great tackle too

It will be interesting to see where he ends up playing. Brilliant presser and could end up in the Lallana role.

You're right. He was invited to praise Clark's goal and chose to praise the pressing assist instead.

These minutes and hours in the first team must be invaluable for the lad.

Really impressed with his composure on the ball. He isn't as press-resistant as a Jones or an Elliott (yet!) but he certainly doesn't fear the opposition coming at him. Think the Lallana comparison is a good one.

You can see why Newcastle weren't happy to lose him. He would easily be a league regular for them by now if Longstaff is the benchmark.

They were given assurances of a pathway to the senior squad.

A big hook for the lads and their families. They could also have gone to clubs that paid them more or gave their families a hefty package, but showing elite mentality at a young age to come here and prove themselves, all for a good chance.

McConnell was from Sunderland so probably an even easier choice for him if he thought he was good enough to play in the first team.

Newcastle fans weren't happy to see Ashley sell Clark before he sold the club but apparently he was keen to join us anyway. His dad said Liverpool had a good plan for him and it looks to be coming to fruition. I think Edwards was still here when we signed him so chalk that down as another victory for laptop Eddie.

didnt know that. and probably our previous captain being from there helped

clark seems like an all action midfielder ala endo. agressive with a good engine. decent tactical awareness too and plays way above his age.

anyone think that he will develop enough to be a regular starter or be a squad player that plug the gaps?

I think he's got a better chance than Koumas or McConnell.  He's mobile, really good technically and tactically and he works his arse off.

eh? like Endo?

it's probably only Endo's position and the number 9 position that Clark hasn't/won't be playing in, in our front 6 positions.

I think he's got a better chance than Koumas or McConnell.  He's mobile, really good technically and tactically and he works his arse off.
think i'd put him ahead of Danns too, and the promising fullbacks (obviously except Bradley).

Then McConnell in second (but, same as Klopp said about Morton, it's dependent on McConnell 'growing a body'). really obvious talent, but just not quite as able to affect games using physicality as Clark has been yet.

Agree with this. I want McConnell to come through, he does a lot of stuff well, but he sort of lopes rather than making sharp, quick sprints.

Speed of play and athleticism combined are crucial at the highest level, although Xabi has made much of Xhaka, who is not quick at all, relatively...

Clark has superb awareness and better than average quickness and ability to change direction.
Since haste quite Schorsch, but Liverpool are genuine fight pigs...

think endo is no 6 only on paper.

he does seem to be pressing higher up the pitch i think. maybe the heatmaps could interesting

before we go deep into that rabbit hole again lets get back to clark

seems like if he develops even further our midfield for next year domestic cup games could all be from the academy

curtis,mcconnell,clark,bajetic, elliot and morton.

jumble them up as all are flexible enough to play any role.

Of the Young guys who with the first the most. McConnell,Gordon and Koumas are the one I have most questions about.
Clark a first teamer imo at this point. Bajcetic also. Danns just a signed a new deal and looks he belongs. Koumas idk enough about. McConnell not getting as much as Clark but you can see his talent there. Gordon it just how much development did he lose and like where his body at basically. He super talented and has the ability from before the injury but the club has way more info on it.
McConnell in this system has be more a 6 then 8 also but he can do both.

I think Clark has probably joined Bajetic and are pretty much nailed on to be in the matchday squad regularly and picking up plenty of minutes here on out.
