I may as well have a flat there.

Yep, need any info and we'll help out.

As said only problem where you are staying is having to metro it in (or a nice walk via the beaches and Barceloneta) and depending on if the metro has finished later. Saturday nights and night of holidays usually means the metro doesn't stop running which is good.

Buy a T-10 as well, as its under ten euro for a ten trip pass that can be used on buses, metro, trains etc within zone 1 (covers the airport BUT not the airport metro - there is a half hourly train from Terminal 2 which stops at Sants and Passeig de Gracia stations in the centre). Transport system is pretty good. Taxi wise, if the address for hotel isn't on keycard etc just ask hotel for an address card, then if any language issues just show the driver the card.

Goode idea will keep that in mind. Will also be picking up one of those T-10's as well. Cheers mate.

Looking forward to sampling this 'La Jarra' that's been mentioned a few times. :)

Try Vendimia on junction of Carrer Merce and Placa Antonio Lopez - right next to the old Correos (Post Office) next to Via Laietana. Very cheap and basic but the staff are good as well. Its at bottom of Gothic Quarter and close to what people class as El Borne (La Ribera) and Barceloneta.

Finally sorted Barcelona - Espanyol tickets for this weekend after a nightmare this morning.

The Barcelona ticket website just wouldn't accept any of mine or my mates cards so ended up getting them through ticket master which was a relief.

Cant wait now, first time to the Nou Camp.

A great stadium that. It didn't feel as huge as the capacity tells you. Somehow the likes of Bernabeu or even Old Trafford feels a lot bigger even though they're 20.000 or so less seats.

Have a great time!

Noticed that about the weather, hopefully it's not as bad as forecasted.

Sevilla's next on my list to get too! Want to get to a Betis game and check out the city.

I've been week before xmas as well as between xmas and new year.

Everything as a rule is open, might be a few bars and restaurants shut due to most places being run by families.

From Liverpool used to be easyjet but last year or two i've been using Ryanair with only one delay, much cheaper and the flight out is a nice civilised 2.45pm. You also have the choice of Vueling now as well.

I've also booked a couple of Spanish trips out of Stansted with Ryanair as i can sort work trips down south around them...

Had a boss weekend in Barca. Sitting in work now after getting back at 9pm last night, gutted.

Ended up on the harbour both Saturday and Sunday nights into the early hours, Villa Olimpica I think It was. Quite pricy but had a boss time there both nights.

Nou Camp was unbelievable, did the tour the day before the match and couldn't of gone to a better match. Go to see our Luis bag 2 goals and a Messi free kick buried right in front of us. ;D

Struggled to find that La Jarra after walking round the Mini Estadi before the game but a mate spotted it when we were walking back to the tube station. Went in for a pint and everyone in there was sound, definitely be back pre match when we go again.

Heading back a week today with the Mrs after enjoying the last trip there with the lads.

Staying in the Eixample area again as I found it perfect last time around. Anyone have any recommendations on where a decent place for a meal with the mrs would be? Also looking to go to a rooftop bar for a few if anyone has had any experience with them.

Most of the roof top bars in that area are very pricey but this is one of the slightly cheaper ones and has great views of the Sagrada Familia, good grub, music etc.

Loads of them look extortionate for drinks, we were just looking to call into one for a few drinks and check out the view. This one's quite close to our hotel so we'll definitely get up there.

I was at La Merce Festival last year staying at an Airbnb in the Barri Gotic. Place was electric, packed full of people and with things on all day and night. Wish I could do it every year.

Local government have clamped down on airbnb.

Poble Sec has a good range of bars and restaurants from cheap to expensive and is mainly locals.

Really, no airbnb? Suppose it was getting a bit of flak. There's results there currently but I don't wanna book anything at risk and airbnb does sort of destroy culture.

I'll have to look into where to stay for Primavera, I'd rather rent a flat kinda thing than a hotel.... suggestions welcome! Got a few months to sort :)

Spanish is fine but remember it's the capital of Catalunya and Catalan is the local language so signs etc are in Catalan so streets will be Carrer rather than Calle.

It's the unregistered ones that are the issue. If they're registered they'll have a HUT number, which most apartment rental agencies have. You can still go for it but a few stories of the odd person being left without a room on arrival due to being done by the local council.

I've used Friendly Rentals and OH Barcelona before and both have been fine.

Had been browsing the official site a few times but since yesterday it seems you can only buy VIP? Despite being able to browse normal seats for other games? Had a look on Ticketmaster as well but cheapest was around £100 and no choice of seats (although not sure what to go for?).

Barca tickets are usually quite easy to get - it is a bit strange that they're not on sale at the minute but you should be fine next week. They even have a returns sale for the Real Madrid match a week before. I'd say check the website every now and then (every day from next Monday) and you should be alright. Tickets are print at home too.

In terms of where to sit you probably want to avoid level 5 (very high) and the back of level 1 - I've never sat there but I think from some seats you can't see much of the stadium. I've sat at the front of level 4 and level 3 before and they were both good. The tribuna (along one end of the pitch) is the only covered stand. The noisiest fans are in the front rows behind the goal of the South stand ('Gol Sud'), but I think it's hard to get tickets in with them and the view is shite. In general I'd say any block starting with a number from 1-4 should be ok!

Lower half (port end) of Raval is seedy. Gothic quarter can be noisy. Sant Antoni, Poble Sec and Eixample are decent. What is known as El Born is decent but can be noisy.
