Doesn't matter now.

Carl isn't winning this.
Thought if it was a punch then he'd have a small chance of a stoppage. Really doesn't matter now.

There you go, he's retired.

I think Frampton has been past his best for 5 or 6 years now.

Needs to retire

That definitely wasn't the Carl Frampton I've enjoyed watching over the years.
Glad he's called it a day.

He already said in the lead up to the fight he was retiring if he lost.

The first knocked down proved that.

Little flash knock down that he would have seen coming years ago.

Fighting a southpaw you just have to keep moving to the left. In the early rounds Frampton did that and was scoring with his left. Herring just ended up walking him down. As soon as he got cut he just walked through Frampton's punches. The moment Frampton moved to the right Herring just chopped him down with a left hook.

The crazy thing is Herring is actually older than Frampton. He is just a freak at that weight.

The Carl Frampton of 5 years ago would have come out all guns blazing at 100mph, he doesn’t have that any more. Herring has done 66 rounds less and turned pro 3.5 years later than Frampton to put the age debate into context.

I'm not a huge follower of boxing, but was Frampton even in the right weight class? I have never seen a low-middle weight fight where the two boxers were of so obviously a different size. I'm guessing Framptn struggle to bulk up to that division whereas Herring struggles to stay down in it.

Frampton was outclassed but perhaps if he had been more patient and had time to work on that cut he might have got something. Whats the general precedent for when a ref would stop a fight due to a cut like that?

Like many fighters, Frampton went on too long. Outstanding fighter in this prime, but he is a long way past it. I hope he sticks to his guns, stays retired, and enjoys a nice retirement. He has certainly earned it.

So a question on Frampton, I've never watched the Josh Warrington fight as watching Dillian Whyte vs Derek Chisora 2 at the time.

Do people think he was the same fighter after the 2 fights with Leo Santa Cruz?

Just seen Conor Benn is in with Vargas next week.

Big test for him that, Vargas has been in with top fighters. Granted he lost most of them, but still a good fight for Benn.

Nope. I think the first Santa Cruz fight took a lot more out of him than we realised at first.

Just watched Bridges vs Courtenay which was a real slugfest, would love to see a rematch. I had it to Bridges 95-94 but wouldn’t have argued against a draw or the decision in Courtenay’s favour by a similar margin. Courtenay won by a unanimous decision with 2 judges giving it 98-92, which was a disgrace and a similar farce to Zelfa Barrett & Kiko Martinez.

Just watched it back, Vargas reeling on the ropes was reminiscent of Lucian Bute. Although after 4 defeats in 6 fights, I’m not sure what he’s got left. Time for Benn to step it up now and there are plenty of decent fights for him at 147.

Shame, I was hoping for a good test for Benn. That was too quick.

Can't argue with the ref stoppage really.

He hadn't been throwing back, then when his head snapped back from the uppercut and his legs buckled, he had to stop it.

Don't know what to make of Benn to be honest. Was hoping to find out if he's any good last night but I still have no idea. I suppose you can't ask for more than a first round stoppage.

Not sure we'd learn a lot from him beating Fordy's mate either.
