Just looking at West Broms squad, I'd forgotten Oliver Burke went there - cane on as well vs Chelsea apparently, but I had given up watching at that point I guess!

He should have toughed it out at Leipzig, would have been far better for him that warming the bench at West Brom.  The lad seems a talent, but he's taken a step back this season in his development.

I always found it telling with him that the Leipzig coaches said he was the player they had to work with the most one-on-one in training, particularly tactically. It was a waste for him to go to West Brom. Would have learned more at Leipzig as a sub than as a sub for Pulis. Their lack of creativity is likely going to see them relegated. The fact that both Pulis and Pardew are reluctant to use him says a lot

Have you seen Oliver Burke play live? No doubt that he is an athlete and can sprint fifty yards pretty quick. But in other respects his technique is worse than average (in the Championship) and his football brain is not instinctive and he hasn't learned what to do. Still young though.

WBA under Pulis weren't the worst for technique on the ball. Only thing going for them really. Good for 0-0 draws.

WBA need the next 6 games to get within 3 points of the pack and take it to the last weekend.

Well, Pardew is fucked isn't he? Can't wait to see his smug face go when he realises it.

From the others, I fear a little for Newcastle. Looking at the fixtures, there isn't really a point where they get a run of good games for them. It's all stop-start (one or two winnable games, then a tough looking game) so may struggle to gain momentum. Brighton look to have the same issue. As long as Palace don't get the stuffing knocked out of them in the next few games, I can see then spawning enough points out of the end run to stay up.

Technically this kind of ties in with the whole promotion/relegation thing, so I'm going with it anyway, but holy fuck, that Sessegnon for Fulham looks a proper player, first time actually watching him for a whole game tonight and wow, he is going to be astonishing in a couple of years.

Hope you guys don't go Paul, not only cause of Rafa but I've a few geordie mates. Sounder (and crazier!) group of people you're never likely to meet. If you had those same fixtures, but in a position where you could get momentum going, I'd say you'd be fine. This time of year momentum can drag you over the line.

Whatever happens that fat cockney twat has to be driven out the club. If you can stay up and he fucks off, you'll hopefully get some investment and actually sign some players.

West Brom look almost done, they've won 3 all season, so winning 5 or 6 out of the last 10 is going to be one hell of a recovery.

Watched the replays and highlights again.

Swansea getting well beaten at a very ordinary Brighton was surprising, given how well they’ve responded to the new coach. But ‘new coach/manager’ bounce can only mask so many deficiencies.

I was looking closely, in particular, at a player touted as an England regular (and who was allegedly the subject of big January bids from rival clubs) - Alfie Mawson. He reminds me of no-one more than Martin Skrtel. His instinct is almost inevitably to retreat rather than defend on the front foot.

West Brom are gone. They might as well sack Pardew now and get their man in for next season, at least that way he gets to have a good first hand look at the squad and could possibly get a new manager bump in form to end the season on a high. Pardew has won 7 of his last 52 PL games, literally no point in sticking with him in this scenario.

Only won 3 all season and two of them were in August (possibly the first 2?). :lmao

Won the first two, Pulis sacked in November hovering above the relegation, Pardew came in and brought Carver with him, and West Brom are now bottom and probably going to stay there.

Mawson actually looked poor. Hoorn was suicidal.

Swansea might yet survive on the last day.  All the bottom clubs have deficiencies in about equal proportions. Different flaws though.

Think you're right there are so many teams involved at the moment, that it'll go down to the wire.

I've seen Mawson play a few times this year, and I think he's got talent, but obviously needs a bit more consistency to move up to the highest level. If the Swans go down, I can see a few premier clubs coming in for him.

A Log-jam on shite from 7th down...all capable of pulling their tripe out for a 'relagation fight' or play one off blood pumping perforamaces and scarping wins against the odd top 6 side...but overall...apart from the obviouse, Everton, who gives a fuck..yeah theres a few side stories that would please me , Palace, WBA...but I doubt I shall be investing much of my concern on the bottom three come the end of the season

The standings going into this weekend's set of fixtures.

Last week the difference between 10th and 18th was six points. The difference between 10th and 18th is now seven points. Watford are currently nine points ahead and almost certainly safe, but have some tricky fixtures still to come. Swansea were the biggest winners last week managing to leap out of the relegation zone and vault five places ahead of West Ham. By losing to Burnley, Everton (who are also likely safe) ended up falling behind Watford and Brighton. (Bracket denotes change in position from prior week)

West Ham at home to Southampton next week. Think if there's a loser they go down. Wesy Ham have some really hard games after that I think so if they don't win I think they could really be fucked. Still can't see Southampton going for whatever reason.

I hope West Ham and Palace go though, just because of the managers being fucking dickheads

Still possible that all of Hodgson, Moyes and Pardew could be relegated in the same year.

Would be bliss.

Would they disband the LMA if that happened??

Newcastle were probably the biggest winners this weekend managing to move three places up the table. West Ham's descent continues and their goal difference keeps on worsening. They are now three points outside of the relegation zone. Their only saving grace seems to be that the teams below them are struggling just as badly.  The relegation battle looks to be splintering into mini-leagues now. There's now ten points separating 9th (Everton) from 18th.  Everton and Watford probably won't need much more to secure their almost certain survival. The six point gap between Bournemouth and Palace is being helped out by a healthy goal difference for the former. Several clubs will also be affected by FA Cup postponements.

From the remaining games listed above I would say that aside from the obvious problems at West Ham they probably have the toughest run in as well. Just look at their last 4 games and that is aside from Manure and Chelsea before that.

And then was just one place as Stoke lose to Everton to join WBA,

Huddersfield now look most likely depending on their next 3 games.  Newcastle (A) Brighton (A), Watford (H).

39 pts minimum.

My dream 3 would be West Brom, Southampton and West Ham. This means Stoke escape and they're a dreadful club and I would love to see them go down, but the thought of Moyesiah relegating a team is too good to let pass.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Tough next 3 games for Huddersfield.

Stoke are not down as yet but need a win very soon.

Updated to include the brief set of PL fixtures that occurred this weekend to include all sides currently within 8 points of the drop. Crystal Palace lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with their first win since January 13th to end a seven match winless run. Bournemouth were able to vault themselves ahead of Watford by beating West Brom, while Stoke became more firmly rooted to 19th.

Bottom half of the table is crazy and it's anybody's guess who's going down, well apart from West Brom, I reckon it's curtains for them and I'll be delighted to see the gobshite Pardew relegated.

I've changed my mind a few times over the season but at this moment in time am willing West Brom, Stoke and Palace to go down.

Out of all of teams at the bottom I would say Palace are playing the best. Think they will be safe.

I watched Palace on MOTD and would think they've got as good a squad of anyone below the top seven.

Hodgson may do just enough to keep them in the lower reaches of the league but a better manager would do quite well with some of the players they have. Rafa for instance.

At the moment, I think it's going to be Huddersfield, Stoke and West Brom. It's amazing how much is still in play for those teams down the bottom. The six pointers will be huge as expected, but given so many clubs are playing teams fighting for a CL place, goal difference might be a big factor at the end of the day. Palace have to play five games against relegation threatened clubs, while Watford, Swansea and Bournemouth have four each respectively. Meanwhile, Brighton still has to play four sides in the Top 5.

Out of all of teams at the bottom I would say Palace are playing the best. Think they will be safe.

They have the easiest run-in of any of the relegation threatened sides. If they go down, they only have themselves to blame

The Rafa factor means I’m wanting Newcastle to stay up and for him to get out in the summer. Was rooting for them to do better until their fans behaviour at Anfield

Plenty of teams id like to see the back of so I think it’s a win win

If they can keep Zaha on the pitch they'll be absolutely fine. Best player on any of the teams down there by an absolute mile.
