And we'd have give our ballbags for that at the start of the season.....

Let's not forget that..... We only dreamed of that

“Generosity always pays off. Generosity in your effort, in your work, in your kindness, in the way you look after people and take care of people. In the long run, if you are generous with a heart, and with humanity, it always pays off.”

Many thanks again for the updates this season, Prof. Plus all the others adding to this most interesting thread (looking forward to seeing those home and away bars again).

Here's to a new season of APLT and a whole new set of people posting that they don't understand and we shouldn't be bothered about this. :)

Enjoyed this, shows how Chelsea bottled it, Arsenal never really had it as much as people thought and how City sneaked it from us despite barely ever leading the table. Was a good model to go by throughout the season.

I think that shows how City sneakily had really excellent form since that defeat to Chelsea in February. They only had two poor results since then; us and Sunderland in the space of a few days. Otherwise exemplary. Their games in hand took the focus and pressure off them a bit when it was all about Chelsea, and then all about us.

Well done Prof. I love the APLT.

Must do it again some time. How's August in your diary?

Here's the final form band for the season...

This has been my first season on the forum [introduced to it by my eldest son] and unquestionably this thread has been the most fun.

The APLT is a great idea and I think quite easy to understand...though I do have times when I sit n stare at the chart for a while n wait for moments of inspiration on how to evaluate what I'm seeing.

I've enjoyed making up the form bands...but again the format is one thought up by Prof.

I'm not much interested in the WC...so for me it's a 96 day countdown to the next season of dreaming.

Let's hope that there are fewer pessimists next season...see you in 95 days... :wave

Thanks to Prof and those who made thread interesting the past season. Look at that Everton collapse at the end there. They should be kicking themselves.

Cheers Prof, massive fan of the APLT.

Question: Will you adjust the target points totals for next seasons APLT to reflect the disparity in the actual points totals achieved by this seasons top four teams i.e. 86 points for first and 79 points for fourth?
I'm really looking forward to the future. People can say it's going to be grim if they want but i'm a Liverpool fan...and I don't fucking believe them.

Great thread again. Here's another alternative table, probably posted before elsewhere but I didn't know where to post it, showing the league if only goals by English players counted (would be more interesting if it showed "homegrown" instead of just English but hey-ho).

Thanks everyone for the comments.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I Was There, nice work with the form bands.  I think they added a great visual view of the points hauls.  If we'd picked up more points away in the first half of the season, it would have been the difference.

This seems the most appropriate place to post this.

http://matchstory.co.uk/2014fixtures/

Basically, using PaddyPower match odds, it shows when the toughest fixtures are and how each team's season pans out over the year.

Based on the post above, I have written a piece inspired by the APLT.

Take a look if you are interested - http://thisisanalysis.wordpress.com/2014/08/15/a-marathon-not-a-sprint-how-will-next-season-play-out/

And I look forward to updating it as the season progresses, hopefully with us finishing top at the end of 38 games :D
