You're so fucking boring

No, what's boring is dominating a football match and making the same mistakes over and over again.

There is nothing from that game to suggest we can't catch up and over take Arsenal. We ARE a better team then them.

Our defence for one.

Nah, that was a free kick, a soft one, but the right call was made. Otherwise 100's of calls in favour of SAS wouldn't have been given.

I hear you but when these lapses happens in almost every f*cking game these are more than just individual lapses.

Well certain personal should be dropped then. The manager can't force a player to concentrate 90 minutes. The player has to have that within themselves.

Travesty of a result yet again.

But its now too much for it to be a coincidence. Sturridge cant come back quick enough and the defending is poor from top to bottom

Biggest disappointment is that we didn't get more out of the first half.
Even the goal at the end of the first half just felt like a consolation for what we would have had.
To, right after that, give up the equaliser before the end of the first half, just seemed to take the wind out of us for most of the second half.

Glad we were able to get it together to equalise things again before the end, at least.

First booking was absurd. Thought he was unlucky with the header.

What header? He raked his studs down Carzola's chest?

Referee was fucking abysmal. How is that a red card when lallana got taken out on goal?
I thought the ref was very good, bar the second yellow he should have shown to Flamini.

No, I'm not joking. Giroud's pinged it at him. It's not the direction that beats him, it's the pace of it.

Correct. There's absolutely no way he could react to that shot. It was going to have to just hit him to be saved.

He was 1v1 against a full back. He lost that battle. He is a joke of a defender and the fact he has been here 7 years and still is in the team is amazing.

Still doesn't alter the fact that we give away too many stupid free kicks.

I don't care how bad or good we are playing. The team is showing character and passion. Once we get out of the rough patch I believe we will climb. If it will be enough for fourth is the question though since we've lost so much ground.

We need Sturridge badly anyway.

No 4th is out of sight, had to win today imo. I would be happy with a good charge in the europa league and hopefully a cup win.

Liverpool: 27 shots -> 2 goals
Arsenal: 7 shots -> 2 goals

We have a bite, but no teeth. Chances don't count.

2 should be enough to win games. It has to be enough against top sides like Arsenal.

We do need to put more chances away, no doubt, but that wasn't the problem today IMO. It was the softness of the defence.

I was calling for Mignolet in the pre-game thread and basically - I think he would have kept the second one out. Tragi-comedic defending aside, that's Mignolet's bread and butter. Not even too clear a connection from Giroud and Jones was nowhere, just like he was nowhere at Bournemouth and nowhere at Old Trafford. If this side has pretensions of competing at the top level then clearly we need to address our lack of a 1st team goalkeeper.

It was basically the goal Joe Ledley scored against us for Palace.

Brad Jones is in in the hope it gives Mignolet a kick up the arse. At the moment neither of them are good enough for a Premier League side.

- 61 shots
- 21 on target

AT LEAST half have to be head down blasts into 3 defenders that turned into a deflected shot that slowly rolled to their keeper.

Screwed by the ref again!!!

Should have won the game quite comfortably but this is Liverpool so it's never quite so simple!

We battered them.  We saw a typical Skrtel match, brain fart at one end and then a cracking goal at the other, that is him in a nutshell!

We should've got 4 points from the last 2 games but we are looking much better than we were.  Markovic is looking decent and will only get better.

Lots of positives from this match, even after conceeding 2 poor goals we carried on and fought till the end.

I still believe we can get top 4 this year, it's nice to be frustrated to not get the win rather than be gutted about how dire we played.

Utter relief but...

We have a manager who does not know how to coach a defense.
This is his 3rd year - same questions every week...
Just look at the 3 defenders ball-watching for their 2nd goal.

Just laughing at the self-contradiction in this.

Postulate A: The manager is shit
Postulate B: The defenders were shit at one point in the game

A = B?

A =/= B

This is obvious. CL is gone. Looking forward to another rebuilding job starting this January.

In a normal season maybe BUT all other teams bar City and Chelsea are inconsistent. CL has not gone yet. Still a lot of football to be played and a transfer window plus Sturro's return looming.

One point makes little difference really. We aren't getting 4th now. Some of the football was much better but it counts for nothing if the composure isn't there in the final third.

Yikes. What a fucking shit season.

Erm, can we sort out the defence please?

It's not a striker we need in January its a keeper who can organise and dominate

Will people stop assuming that top four is no longer possible? It's not gone until it's mathematically impossible.

I think we're improving with every game, and if we do well in the transfer window, and the second half of the season is a good one, we'll not be finishing tenth. Maybe we'll get into the top four, maybe we'll miss out and end up fifth, sixth or even seventh, but this team with a few additions and Sturridge back are capable of better than finishing tenth.

It's a concern that can be applied to the entire defence. We've pumped so much money into it and don't own one top defender. That, or they have been failed to be coached appropriately. Whatever the issue with the defence is, it is down to mismanagement.

At the end of the 1st half there were dozens slagging off Skirtel for his performance, just watch the same ones come in now and praise him.
Yip. We've all got them Paul, we've all got them..
You have to say though- we have the worst defense in the top 3 tiers in English football. Absolutely, the worst. Comical.
I was thinking during the match... "I wonder if we'd keep a Blue Square North team out...?.."

But the players we sign are not good enough either like Sakho and Lovren.

Anyway is there any point in discussing the defence? Rodgers cannot organise one and our defenders whoever we sign play shit. We just have to accept we will always be shit at defending.
