He had a huge outpouring of emotion at full time, so happy for him. Great professional and what a player

How's that move to Leeds looking?

I don't think I was happier for anyone more than James Milner last night. You could tell, at his age, with that outpouring of emotion as soon as the final whistle went, it just meant that little bit more to him than everyone else. That City win Monday night would have hit him just that little bit more than everyone else because he'll know you can't take seasons like this for granted. I'm fucking delighted he has a genuine shot at winning a major trophy with us now. Yes, he left City to join us partially for more game-time, but he joined us to win things, too.

After rewatching again, one of the things that sticks with me is how the game ended. With Milner and Wijnaldum along the line protecting the ball and killing time together like the pros they are. Then at the whistle Gini drops to his hands and knees and Milner collapses on him.

Milner epitomises the spirit and professionalism of this team.

He does, yes, although there does seem to be some confusion about it.

Pearce says it ends next summer - https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sadio-manes-future-james-milners-15204014.

What a player- fuck Leeds off and give him an extension. Then get him on the coaching staff after that.

What a role model, impecable in everything he does- the dream Klopp player

Fairly comfortable with him having another year and seeing where we are at that point. Maybe change his contract so that we have an option for an extension at the end of this one.

My sense is he's not going to be here in 3 seasons anyway, so we should start to try and transfer some of the 'wise head' responsibilities from him to some others in the squad - e.g. Gini, Firmino or Robbo.

That means 1-2 more seasons, gradually phasing out his responsibilities during that time. We should think about offering him some sort of a coaching job though.

To be honest, when we signed him I was a bit under-awed. I saw him as a jack of all trades who would be a decent backup if needed.

However i’ll now take my hat off to him as he has put in so many exceptional performances and has shown the younger players that they need to outwork him. The cameo this season was the dying seconds against Barcelona “give me the ball and i’ll see the game out”.

A wonderful player who gives his all every game.
