LFC v EFC Police Meeting 30th March 2017
« on: March 31, 2017, 11:27:24 am »
The Spirit of Shankly along with Merseyside Police, both Clubs and EFC supporter groups attended a police liaison meeting yesterday afternoon about the derby taking place at Anfield on the 1st April 2017.

Merseyside Police indicated that at the last two derbies there had need a slight increase in hostility and anti social behaviour both inside and outside both grounds.

One of the major issues has been the exchange of missiles between supporters at various times in recent derbies and this behaviour is being highlighted at this match and for the coming games as it has been reported by Merseyside Police that a Liverpool FC supporter lost the sight in an eye at the recent Manchester City away fixture after being struck by an object thrown by home supporters.

Police and Stewards (and the Club using the latest CCTV technology they have) will be looking to operate a zero tolerance policy for anyone found to be throwing any missile inside the ground.

The policing overall will be as normal for this game - with the possibility that there will be a higher profile for deployment of police vehicles and deployment of extra officers around the city due to the heightened concerns after the Westminster attack although there is no intelligence to suggest that the game is a special risk.

Anti-social behaviour generally will be monitored but there are no extra regulations being put in place relating to the sale of alcohol within the ground.

Members and those attending the game are welcome to feedback any issues relating to the policing and stewarding to secretary@spiritofshankly.com

Last two Derbies were evening kick offs weren't they which no doubt always leads to more 'anti-social' behaviour.

Bell ends on both sides ruining it for the majority. Anyone who gets so angry about something they think it's acceptable to risk blinding someone shouldn't be anywhere near a football match.

Hope it all passes off safely.
