Jermaine Defoe
« on: April 24, 2009, 07:54:01 pm »
His brother died today- heres an earlier report.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article6164283.ece

Hope Jermaine's ok- seems like a nice lad in football really. Wouldn't wish this on anyone when his brother is just 26.

He was a grime MC from London- so a lot of people from where I'm from knew him. Very sad, I used to listen to him on pirate radio when I was growing up.

He died? I've been reading about it on the Spurs forums but hadn't heard anything other than him being in a critical condition. Sad news though

Yeah.

His brother was a big Grime MC who used to go on pirate radio alongside people such as Tinchy Stryder, Wiley and Dizzee Rascal who have been gracing the charts recently.

The scene is mourning for him and several people with status have confirmed it. I didn't even know he was Defoe's brother till today. I'd be crushed if my brother ever died.

Really really sad, way too young.

Apologies, I've been out all night till now- my apologies. Jermaines brother was Gavin Defoe and he Emceed as Esco Bars(z) in London and was a popular figure in the scene. He was especially big according to the grime masses and fans he unfortunately passed away on Friday 24th April 2009s

Its very sad for London- I know a lot of you are from Liverpool, Garston etc, but I've always had my eye on the 'rappers' from London.

Hold tight Jermaine Defoe. Last time I felt this bad, next mans dad died. This one has crushed me. REST IN PEACE and I hope Jermaine keeps treading water.

Thought this was worth posting.

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-tyne-40178965

Quote
Footballer Jermain Defoe intends to spend "as much time as possible" with terminally-ill Bradley Lowery after his move to Bournemouth.

The striker, who has confirmed he will be leaving relegated Sunderland, says he has "been blessed" to have been part of the six-year-old's life.

Bradley's parents have said the youngster has just weeks to live.

He suffers from neuroblastoma and is receiving palliative care at home in Blackhall Colliery, County Durham.

Listen: “My relationship with Bradley Lowery was the highlight of my season”

England international Defoe has struck up a close friendship with the avid Sunderland fan, who was recently named a "child of courage".

Bradley led out the England team at Wembley with his "best mate" Defoe for the World Cup qualifier against Lithuania in March.

Defoe said he "didn't really know what to say" when he heard Bradley only had weeks left to live.

"Every day I wake up and I will text his mum and ask how he is getting on and she will say he's OK. But the reality is that he's really struggling," he added.

"All I can do is try and be there for him and the family. When I finish with England I'll try and get up there again before I go away.

"I want to try and spend as much time with him as possible."

This is one of the most inspiring stories I've heard.

What little life this young man has had has been made into a fairytale by Defoe.

That he will end his life still living that fairytale speaks volumes about Defoe and his values.

He has done something truely great with his fame, what a wonderful legacy.
