New pics of the New Stadium
« on: January 2, 2010, 04:35:37 am »
Just having a browse on the Official website and I noticed these pics which I hadn't seen before with views from the corners of the ground and underneath the stands - thought it was worth a post

Cheers for this...Have just checked the pics against the previous ones posted on forums and the official site and there are definitely a number of new pics - including better views the main stand and away end and how they link

It's divided at street level with a disabled viewing area.

It is divided at street level, bit it's not for a disabled viewing area, it's so fans can see right inside the stadium on non match days.

I think you're misunderstanding the bit he means, as he is on about the grey section part way up the Kop that goes about half way across. And that is a disabled viewing platform so 'all fans of any ability can enjoy the atmosphere of the Kop' or something like that was the official club line.

No mate your wrong, look at the pictures, Hicks was quoted as saying that this was incorporated into the design so fans could see into anfield on non match days, that's why there is glass on some of the walls.

I think you and others are getting confused with the disabled platform that was proposed in Parry's & Moores new stadium design.

The glass walls are so people can see into the stadium, the break in the Kop is a disabled viewing platform. Look it up.

Yup, this has been discussed elsewhere, not of case of what it is (cos it's deffo a disabled viewing platform) but the rights and 'wrongs' of it.

Personally I see nothing wrong with it, and find it a bit insulting to the people it's actually meant for when fans say it breaks up the the Kop, it's not strictly single tier etc.

Agreed, I like the idea where our disabled fans can sit with their full-able friends in the Kop. Once its all decked out, it'll give somewhere to hand a load of banners at matches (as I think one of the mocked up pictures where the ground is full shows), and you'll hardly even notice it is there.

just depends how much the grey sticks out really, think thats the main concern the colour breaks up the sea of red and white (well, its hardly ever that anyway but you gt the idea)

Only thing different between the 60k and 72k seater is the opposite stand to the Kop. It has just a few rows in the smaller capacity and a massive one for the larger one.

That is true. Those are designs for 73k stadium. Same footprint so they can extend later, but they haven't even submitted application for 73k stadium so a bit cheeky using them on the site.

It's both. The disabled platform is at Plaza level and it's designed so that there are views through from the Kop concourse. Unnecessary and stupid.

You'd struggle to pass banners over it. As I said above - it's not just a disabled platform - it's much bigger than necessary to allow the views through, and the distance between the seats in front and the seats behind is excessive. I've posted the section somewhere on here before.

Surely the fact that it is a disabled viewing platform, means that ' excessive' distance has to cater safely for wheelchairs etc (emergency exit etc)  it may even be a legally required minimum distance.

How does it allow views through, its solid concrete on the back?!

It isn't - I'll see if I can find the drawings I posted. What sets the distance is the height of the clear walkway from the ground level concourse and the rake of the stand. It's bigger than it needs to be.

It isn't. The pitch level is excavated a long way down. The wheelchair area is at ground level. If you look at these pictures

You can see that all of the seats below the wheelchair platform are below ground level.

I found this in another thread:

All the grey is below ground level.

Yeah, I know its at ground level (makes sense, as wheelchair users will have no need to go up or down stairs to get to the viewing area).

What Im asking is how exactly will having this disabled viewing area help for views through from the outside as you said? IMO that being there would make no difference to what you could see than if you filled it with 3 rows of seating (or whatever fits in to it!).

Ok I understand what you're saying. I just remember picking up on this when someone posted the planning drawings a while back. I'll have a scout around for the drawings to try and explain what I mean.
