Football Dreams: The Academy

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere before but we've just started watching it and it's interesting (if a little stage managed).

The levels of commitment - from both the academy players and their generally utterly obsessive parents - is amazing.  It's easy to see why those that get released become disheartened because it doesn't seem like an environment where you can coast along whilst keeping the rest of your life in balance.

Interestingly though the coaches, when they're on camera at least, are generally telling the kids and their parents to relax and do a bit less.

The final episode is this week but it's all on catch-up.  It would be good if they revisit the players sporadically to give updates on how they're getting on.
