Any Politician who ably serves the Rentier/Corporate class gets a nice little payoff afterward.  And this trend started in the 80's, as we can tell post-Jimmy Carter (76-80) who I think went bankrupt post-presidency while running his farm in Georgia.

Compare too:
Reagan and Bush already had their own money.
Clinton....this guy makes millions from corporates on speaking tours
Al Gore....the guy lost but has a hedge fund!!
Sarkozy.....now running a hedge fund in London
Tony Blair....since 2008 has been making near 1million/yr from JP Morgan Chase, and also banks from speeches like Clinton

I'm sure we can find a few more but that's off the top of my head

Not too many of those make\made their money for an industry that directly kills so many people though.

What is rather bizarre is that our Electricity went out this morning, just like it did a lot in the Thatcher ruled 80's. I've deleted about 20 knobheads off Facebook and I'll be deleting more as there is a sudden onset of Moral obligation from certain sections of my facebook. People (mostly 20 something girls), preaching for sympathy, all the while not seeing how hypocritical they are being by not empathising with the thousands that, that woman brought hardship and derision upon.

Just thinking before that it is strange when you realise that the time that she was in power just happened to coincide with our most successful era ever. I'm getting a little annoyed with the BBC - maybe I'm just missing them, but not seeing anything but tributes from them on twitter so far. Watched a couple of minutes of ITV News and they went to Liverpool and interviewed a few others who hated her. Same on 5Live on my way home, just tributes, no interviews with anyone who had a bad word for her.

We want to take the moment when our country is remembering her legacy, to remember the people her government hurt - people who don’t get pull-out supplements in national newspapers. People who don’t get State funerals in St Paul's Cathedral. The people her apologists forget, or want to forget.

Margaret Thatcher's last years were spent coping with dementia, a terrible illness. If, like us, you were disgusted by how she treated the least well off in Britain and around the world, the old line about not wishing something on your worst enemies still applies. We can’t help but think it’s pretty lousy to celebrate or gloat over anyone’s suffering and death and we don’t want anyone else to do it either.

We just want to place front and centre people who had no place in the Thatcherite worldview. And we want to do that in a way that can actually do some good.
