Going there again for 4 days in October for our honeymoon.
All the badge kissing in the world don't make up for the fact that they are, frankly, not Liverpool Football Club. It's not their fault. Its just how it is.

Just got back last night, had a fucking boss time

Connie is a right legend and had a blast at 11th Street Bar Saturday morning - although I dont think anyone was ready for how drunk I was at 10 in the morning.

Mate of mine just returned from his first trip to nyc with his gf and
he hated it and said he's never go back.

He went there for a few days whilst staying in Boston for a fortnight.

Said he had to shower twice a day, he told me he thought it was
basically a very dirty grimey city and he didn't see what the appeal was.
He wasn't impressed at all.

Hope no one takes offence to that, am just relating it.

Funny how peoples opinions can differ.

I enjoyed my only visit there.

It is all about what ya fancy i suppose. One of my mates went two years ago and has vowed never to go back, said he hated it too.Its the only bad report ive personally head about the place, everyone who goes seems to love it.

Got to be honest though its not somewhere id like to go,its not up there on my list of places to visit.Id go given the chance but theres plenty of places id rather visit first.

Having an amazing hotel just away from the madness of Times Sq etc helped with it tho

Booked my trip today!

Very overexcited. Managed to get a flight with Virgin for Ł297! Delighted with that, so I spent a bit too much on the hotel ;D

Staying at the Crowne Plaza, mainly due to my best mate being determined to stay somewhere swanky.

Rhi has given me a massive list of things to do so I shalln't be bored whilst I'm there.

Thanks to all for the advice on this thread - I shall report on the utter carnage I've undoubtedly created when I get back.

Don't forget your predictions, new york or no new york! ;)

Can't see it myself, as it's one of my favourite places to visit; been there 3 times & will definately be back time & time again!!

Crowne Plaza is right in the center.  Good choice and believe me that is a great rate.  You could get much much worse for that price.

Have a great time.

here is a link to the NYC Tourist site.  Great resource.  The link to free events etc is amazing.  There is so much to do and see that doesn't cost a penny.  Also has coupons and discounts.

Im going for the first time on November 7th i think for a week.

Going with cousins - but getting most of it paid for......

Yet i'm still gutted i'll miss the Birmingham game and had to think long and hard about going.

Not missed a home game in a long time - feel a bit wrong for sacking it off.
It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here/ and i'm most obliged to you for making it clear/ that i'm not here

Spud - I'm there between the 18th and 23rd of November. My mate who's coming with me is a top red too. On the Saturday we're there, we've got City - early kick-off. Would very much like to see it, but am also aware that 12.45 means silly o'clock in NYC. Would definitely be up for a couple of IPA's somewhere :)

Ah, I'm not going to be around then, headed back to base in Georgia, that's a pity. I'll be across the pond eventually.

Went about 5 years ago, was fantastic, absolutely enthralling city. All the obvious places are well worth a visit, but the more exploring you do the more gems you find.

We stayed in the Milford Plaza just off Times Square, not an amazing place but nice enough and had  on the bottom of it a friendly + lively Irish pub that had lots of locals. If it's your first visit there well worth getting the New York Pass which gets you into all the major places and dodge a few queues, only cost about Ł40 but it's probably gone up since then.

We got back last Tuesday morning, having had an epic time. Even squeezed a trip into Coney island which was like Blackpool meets LA.

Anyway, I'm planning to write a decent trip report at some point, once I've sorted through 1200+ RAW images and 800 general JPEGS.

Wwe stayed at the On The Ave Hotel in the Upper West Side (excellent location away from the hussle in a quality neighbourhood).

We stayed 5 nights, the bed was huge, the hotel was clean, tidy and staff were excellent, despite some grumblings on Trip Advisor. Ł580 for 5 nights - we booked in March with a special offer advertised on the site, but it was a steal for what we got.

Bit of a coincidence.

I'm going there in November for 12 months (work related) and cannot wait.

Been plenty of times before, it has better looking women and weather then london if that helps  ;)

My mate moved there last year, but doesnt have a job and think its getting him very frustrated now. Says everyone says they ould love to live there, but two weeks holidays is a bit different to living and working. It is pretty expensive too.

Did a summer there as a student, loved it!

Funnily enough, if all goes well on my trip in a few weeks, I am thinking about going there for an extended period.

I work in TV graphics and the US does sports graphics better than anyone, and I'm thinking about doing some work in NYC to further my trade. I kinda already know I'm going to love it and I'm going to do it, so this is just pretend research for me.

On that note, people have a listen to 'Empire State of Mind' by Jay-Z of his new album. It'll make you want to move there in a heartbeat, the hook is as addictive as crack.

Still yet to get mine. Hopefully next 2 weeks.

Empire State of Mind is the anthem

Empire State of Mind and Star is Born are my favourites from Jay

Was in New York last weekend, wish I had got hold of that track before heading. Fucking anthem - but the beat was definitely used by Asamov and Now feat Mr Lif. Fucking ill beat

Stay in Grenwich village, have your breakfast in a big place over the road from Madison Square Gardens and the post office, look for a place called Bubbys near Washington Square for great ribs, also Max and Angelo's sports bar is good for huge steaks, then check out the Lennon Memorial in Central Park and Strawberry Fields!
