Clamouring to void the season?!!!  Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.  That long awaited league title is for us, the fans.  We'll still be here long after FSG have sold up.

Agreed !

Also the language used about FSG and the need to dump on them all the time is about on the level of the Hicks and Gillet days and they are not the same as those two chancers, not perfect but most of their decisions have been spot on to improve the club for all of us, even if it is also good for any future sale for them.
A world were Liars and Hypocrites are accepted and rewarded and honest people are derided!
Who voted in this lying corrupt bastard anyway

Yeah, thanks, I've heard that too. My cousins are following it up with Waitrose.

As an ex-employee and continued customer id say that the structure of the company is to go out of their way to maintain a good customer/employee relationship. Hoping something’s got lost in translation here mate and you get it sorted.

Well my dad says it's because they are prioritising deliveries for people officially categorised as being vulnerable (i.e on the Govt's official list so not allowed to leave their home). That's obviously fair enough but there should be exceptions for someone like my aunt who is literally unable to leave her house at present. She has had several strokes and confined to a wheelchair but people with conditions like hers aren't on the official list.

Fill out the form for her on the .Gov website and/or get in touch with her GP because they're also supposed to be adding people to the vulnerable list,it seems that some local gov are dragging their arses getting it sorted which is a piss take considering how simple it is for them to do.

My mam has only just been added, hasn't got a letter from the gov yet though & only Sainsburys and Asda have updated their site to allow her to book,Asda actually emailed her to let her know, nowt from Tesco yet though.

The form is here and you're allowed to fill it in for another person, anybody over 70 is supposed to be automatically added though.

I think the problem here  is that my aunt is clearly very ill and vulnerable she doesn't have any of the specific medical conditions on the list so can't register as a vulnerable person. She doesn't have a great relationship with her GP either which doesn't help.  However it looks like it's sorted. She found the number of one of the delivery drivers on her phone  and texted her. The driver has contacted head office and they've arranged for a delivery on Thursday. Not great from Waitrose I have to say but at least my aunt should be on their radar from now on.

Hope your mum gets hers sorted soon too. This whole situation is worrying enough for older people and stuff like this adds an extra layer of anxiety.

Thanks very much to you and the others who've helped with this. I really appreciate it. Stay safe!

Nice one,was sure that I read people over 70  are covered, not sure where though but it could've been on the Sainsburys site or I may have just dreamt it.

Mums all sorted now, still hasn't got the letter yet but it doesn't matter as she was only worried about shopping.

Yes, it's Sainsbury's. They're only allowing people over 70 and those with the specified illnesses to register at present. My dad has just registered with them. Fair to say he's finding it challenging but it it beats the 15 mile drive to the nearest big supermarket.

Slightly off topic, I am trying to get a refund on my season ticket with South Western Railway. They have an online form that doesn’t work - fill in all the details, when I hit submit it says there’s a reCaptach error or something like that, and have tried on more then one device - can’t phone them because of ‘government advice’ even though plenty of other organisations keep their call centres running by enabling people to work from home, no email address, and they are not monitoring social media. I could try going to a local station but for obvious reasons don’t fancy that.

Any ideas?

Tweet them if they have a Twitter account. They will respond quicker.

They always respond quicker that way. The possibility of bad publicity, and a complaint going viral, gives them more of an incentive. They then hope to get positive feedback and publicity.

On the 15th of June 2020, if British Airways has their way, I will be made redundant from the job I love after 25 years of loyal service.
Redundancy notices are to be issued to 43,000 of my colleagues:the entire workforce.....Yes you heard right.

31,000 “lucky” former employees will then be offered re-employment on a far inferior contract, for myself it would be a 65% pay cut. The terms and conditions are also inferior, with a change to the grievance procedure, less days off and annual leave entitlement. And worryingly, a lay off clause where we could be laid off at any time due to seasonal or other reasons. So basically like a zero hour contract.

All of this with a backdrop of our CEO’s bonus of £3.2 million in March this year; he’s been paid £33 million over the last 9 year. For the financial year 19/20 BA made a near record-breaking operating profit of £1.9 Billion. We received no bonus as employees, just the board members.

The company also has the biggest cash reserves of any airline on the planet: £9 billion. During this ‘fight for survival’ , the company I work for is in the process of spending £1 billion buying another airline in Spain.

Nobody is saying we shouldn’t all do our bit and take a shared responsibility approach as we ride this storm. However BA are refusing to negotiate with our union Unite, only consult ie box tick to satisfy any legal challenge that may be mounted, and the deadline for the redundancy letters is getting closer.

Thousands of us BA employees have been writing to our MPs, most have been very sympathetic to our cause.
The danger is, if BA get away with this, being able to rip up your contract with hard fought terms and conditions, threatening you with the sack unless you sign a different one on a 1/3 of your pay, what’s stopping any other big company from doing the same? We could all end up on poverty pay, minimum wage.

And just to add, the redundancy being offered is the statutory minimum, a weeks pay for every year you’ve done, capped at 16 years. So basically thousands of us older staff, are being thrown onto the scrap heap, the only people who will be able to live near Heathrow on 14k will be house sharing or kids living with their families.

Unite have now started a leverage campaign, putting pressure on companies associated with BA. We know all about this from our dark days with Hicks and Gillett, it fills me with pride when I think of the online campaign we mounted busting the banks server by all emailing en mass, if they dared to give a bridging loan to the snake.

I’m not too familiar with twitter, but am giving it a go. There are many reds among us staff and crew like myself, some of us season ticket holders too. We would really appreciate it if you would help us by retweeting and commenting using the hashtags. We really need to build momentum as time is running out for us. Thank you on behalf of Liverpool fans at British Airways.

Statutory redundancy is capped at 20 years isn't it?

Sounds shite. They aren't the first big company to do this recently though, I believe Asda forced new contracts on all their staff last year (didn't go as far as redundancies to do it though) so they could get better terms for themselves.

It can only be changed through negotiation only with my union Unite via collective bargaining. This time they only mention the word ‘ consultation’ which Unite are saying is just a tick box exercise to say they consulted with our elected representatives.

So at the moment, it’s a stand off, and our CEO isn’t a person who likes backing down, but we’re thinking, can we all stand as one and no one sign  the new contract, because he won’t be able to sack everybody.

We have been told by Unite to stand by our phones tomorrow at 11am and we will all retweet the same hashtag, to get it to trend. I would be grateful for any one here who is able to help us with this.
We have also been told to buy a paper copy of The Daily Mirror, as there is an article about us in there and also a mention in the leader column.
One way or another, we will soon know our fate.

PLEASE BUY THE DAILY MIRROR TOMORROW

Many of you have been contacting Unite desperate to lend support and DO something to support the campaign. With social distancing still a reality, it’s difficult to have members congregating in the normal manner, and much of the #BABetrayal campaign has been via social media.

BUT there is something you can do tomorrow and it only costs 80p.

Monday will see the Daily Mirror run a big story about BA and Unite with an additional mention in the leader column. If we can increase paper sales (not online) by a few thousand tomorrow they will very likely run further stories. So let’s show OUR support for them.

It’s a bumper bank holiday edition with a big feature on the Dominic Cummings story, for those of you following it. So please pop down to the shops in the morning and you will be making a difference.

In solidarity

Where I work we have a team that solely focuses on social media and rating site feedback.

Any negative feedback is flagged and we have to investigate and respond in a couple of hours, hopefully with a positive outcome.  A lot of the time the bad review is because we couldn't agree some ridiculous request so the customer is just venting, but it's always nice to be able to sort issues out.

Disgusting from BA

I haven't flown with them since 2001. Used them a couple of times and always felt the staff (Apologies Igor) were rude and stuck up. I used them flying out to Australia and all they seemed interested in was the First and Business Class passengers, Cattle class were an inconvinience

I would rather pay more than use BA. Same goes for Qantas another airline stuck up their own arse. Although as I now live in Australia its a bit more difficult but avoid wherever possible

I’m sorry about your BA experiences WHPaul.
For the last 10 years our Oz flights have been staffed by our mixed fleet colleagues, who tend to be younger, earn a lot less, and are a much more transient workforce. Some of our passengers tell us they refuse to fly on the routes they serve, as a lot of the time it’s like being on a staff training flight.
I can only speak for myself, I’ve worked for BA for 26 years and I’m far from being stuck up, if I have a choice I work economy every time.
Anyway, we actually didn’t get sacked on the 15th of June as was threatened, and so our @BAbetrayal leverage campaign seems to be working to keep the spotlight on a rogue employer who doesn’t seem to want to respect a contract of employment, or discuss alternative solutions ie unpaid leave, part time etc.

Bit late :D

But ASDA basically threw a contract at someone and told them to sign it or you'll have no job, no redundancy.  Obviously most signed.

A restaurant chain which asked furloughed staff to loan it 10% of their wages, amid claims of potential sackings, has paid the money back.

Pub related. A good app detailing the Wetherspoons and Chains with +25 pubs, allowing you to avoid them and hit the more independent ones.  Doesn't have every boozer (as the closest to my work is not listed)

Personally don’t have an issue with chains, just Weatherspoons.

I'm probably hypocritical in some ways, but I do have an issue with a lot of specific chains, which I boycott for reasons individual to each of their practices.

Amazon, Starbucks, Costa, Cafe Nero, Wetherspoons, Greene King, Sizzler, Brewer's Fayre, Axa, Barclays, Facebook, Cadbury's, Coca Cola, HP, HSBC off the top of my head.

I have my reasons and yes it is a headache from time to time.

Wetherspoons because of their twat of an owner and the general dull nature of the pubs.

You're the second to mention Greene King. Any specific reason?

Not a publican myself (just a frequenter) but they offer poor terms to landlords, then should any landlord have the temerity to make a success of the business, they proceed to squeeze the life out of them by upping rents, charges, any way they can squeeze an extra quid or two out of them. Probably seen as standard stuff but it's practices like that as to why good pubs can close, towns and villages can lose their natural centres etc and how communities can lose touch.

Certain ones are a more personal dislike thing purely because they churn out shite product for big prices and everyone thinks they're brilliant and others are because of the impact their poor business ethics have had on people I'm close to - a mate of mine had a lovely artisinal coffee shop and bakery a few years back, was doing really well and Costa started to have their staff stand outside handing out bogof vouchers for their shop 300 yards up the road. He weathered the storm to be fair through good word of mouth and a loyal customer base, but did end up closing when an unexpected third child came along.

Much prefer a good free house, but there's certain chains/breweries I don't mind (Titanic, Joules, Brunning and Price - maybe more of a North West/Cheshire/Wales one, not sure they're national etc).

Generally, I try to shop independent. It's not always possible to. I don't like lining the pockets of big supermarkets but similarly, I can't afford to go completely to independents for everything and spend £200 a week on food shopping. But veg and meat I try to source locally and as ethically as possible. There's no way to act completely ethically in every consumer decision you make - I think it takes too much time and headspace to do, but I try to be as conscious of it as possible and minimise my transactions with companies I disagree with.
