Yeah, I think that might be a better way of using Taysom Hill than taking the ball out of the NFL record thrower's hands.

Big drive. Needed that after the end to the first half.

Taysom Hill pro day number where really good, like comparable to some dude named Adrian Peterson. Says more about his athletic ability then his QB ability though

Yup they're underrated in my opinion. May not have the best numbers but can be counted on when needed to step up.

Running on 2 and 20 is such a loser call. C'mon Sean, man, that's giving them the ball back.

do you think payton should stop taking the ball out of one of the greatest ever QBs hands in one of their biggest games of all time?

Can I ask why? Granted had they scored a 4 point lead would be very handy but is he gambling on OT?

Or if the Saints score on this drive are they going to run out of time to level up again?

half a yard most nfl teams should comfortably manage to get it in. they're a running football team and mcvay is known for going for it on 4th down. half a yard to up 4 points in such an important game? i'd say fortune normally favours the bold.

The goal is to maximise the points when attacking. A 4th and a foot has a ~70% chance of scoring a TD, especially given their offense. 70% of 7 pts is bigger than the 3 for a FG.
Plus if they're stopped it's an incredibly tough field position for the Saints, so the Rams would expect to get the ball back around midfield. Now the Saints have time and good position.

The flip side of that though is that if the Rams manage to stop the Saints here they can eat up time and get the win. Whereas had they been stopped from scoring they would still have to stop the Saints and score a touchdown to win, whereas now a field goal does the job.

Never mind the Saints aren’t going to be stopped. That defense ...

Probably got more yards than they wanted!
