Yeah bought the Dublin bootleg as a reminder of the concert. Also bought the Washington bootleg of the Gorge Amphitheatre from the 23/7/06 as that was my birthday (will make do for not seeing them on my birthday!!). Anyone see the programme on VH1 a while back called Pearl Jam-Storytellers? Live show where they go through some of the stories behind the songs. Betterman was written back when Eddie Vedder was finishing High School. Hard to believe he wrote it so long before it appeared on an album. Also the first time I've seen Eddie Vedder admit Alive was indeed a song written about his own experiences. I'm enjoying listening to the new album, still as good as they ever were (in my opinion anyway).

 :)

Yeah Storytellers was great. Heavy on the "Fuck Bush and Cheney" message - which made me enjoy it even more  ;)

Think I will have to invest in the Dublin and Leeds bootlegs.

He's all about social this, social that, bad western society, etc. but they do play their gigs organised by multinationals like ClearChannel.

For one thing.

Not sayin' he isn't a great songwriter, cause he obviously is. Although he couldn't even suck Morrissey's, Ian Curtis', Nick Drake's or Neil Young's cocks.

Yeah, but they went down the "alternative" ticketing route years ago (see the Ticketmaster case), and it got to the point where they couldn't put gigs on.  Now, look at it like this - if they have to "play the game" to a degree to open peoples minds and ears, then surely that's a good thing?  I mean, shunning the big boys is all well and good, but if it's more beneficial to play a gig to 30,000 people and maybe get a percentage of them interested in good causes, or turned onto politics/voting, then it's worth "playing the game" for, don't you think?

He's far from hypocrytical, although you're entitled to your opinion of course.  Maybe I just know a few more truths about him than your good self.

Last nights Newcastle Concert was another goodie!  It was a real party type show, with Mark Richards; former World surfing champion, local Novacastrian and very good mate of the band providing the set list!

Set 1

Life Wasted,
Severed Hand,
Save You,
Insignificance,
Unemployable,
Brain Of J.,
Red Mosquito,
Given To Fly,
Last Exit,
Hail Hail,
Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town,
Better Man,
Daughter(War),
Whipping,
Leatherman,
Down,
Do The Evolution,
Undone,
Rearviewmirror

Encore 1
Thumbing My Way,
Masters Of War,
Footsteps,
Crown Of Thorns,
Alone,
Even Flow

Encore 2
Corduroy,
Fuckin' Up,
Rockin' In The Free World,
Yellow Ledbetter/Little Wing

Look at that second encore; a couple of real rare songs in that lot!
Still no Garden or Indifference though... :'(

Anyone remember MotherLoveBone?

Great Band - Apple is One of my favourite album covers too. Stardog Champion was class i remember. Tried to find Hater recently, but no luck - was another band created by various Seattle Stalwarts.

Glad you had a good time! Good mixture of songs there but still no Jeremy. What's up with that? ??? I believe they played at the Make Poverty History concert in Melbourne. Did you catch any footage of that?

 :)

I was disappointed neither of the concerts had Jeremy, Indifference or Garden, but they were still great shows!
Haven't seen any of the concert footage, where did you see it?

No, I didn't see it myself. Just saw it mentioned on their website. Apparently it was on Friday the 17th of November. For people who couldn't make it they were erecting large screens around the city. Here is the link to it for more info. http://www.makepovertyhistory.com.au/melbConcert.html#livesite

Here is another link for you, apparently you can get a free DVD of the concert with the Herald Sun. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/indepth/section/0,,5010460,00.html Bono & Eddie did a duet on a version of Keep on Rockin' In The Free World. I'd say that was worth hearing.  ;D

Great work Lou!  ;D

I'm not in Victoria, and I think thats the only place they are releasing the DVD.  I've got a mate down there, so maybe I can get him to get me a couple...If he can, do you want one sent up to you?

I'm really jealous on that Crown of Thorns, very rare. Probably my fave song, even tho it's a MLB cover. Saw PJ twice and no luck.

Cool pics there Dante, love the ones of Eddie on the Speaker! I must upload mine on to my PC of the Dublin concert. The ones that came out clearly!! Very big crowd at that Antwerp concert.  :)
thanks  :wave
big crowd yes, mainly coz it was their first concert in BE for six years or so, previous occasion cancelled coz of the Danish crowd of six that got killed.

Deadlogic is gonna slate me for this.. but dont think theyve made anything cutting edge for years. That tune on binural was cool with the Depeche mode style evil slow drums and grindy bass, think i was called 'u are'

Here's a link for the Make Poverty History duet between Eddie & Bono:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCakcS1-oH4

Eddie is spot on but I thought Bono seemed a bit unsure of himself. He kept looking to Eddie as though to see what to do. I don't know if anyone else will see what I'm talking about! Enjoy anyway.  :)

Far-kin 'ell Lou!!!  Awesome clip that one!  Cheers for that... :wave

Eddie was definitely carrying Bono...:D

I'm gonna be out of the country when that DVD is released (its only out for one day as well  :butt ), I've got some spy's out that maybe able to get me a couple of copies...

than it is 'Ten' for me and then 'No Code'

can't say i liked Riot Act though, that was bit crap

good stuff.  was there much life to them on stage? I was at the gig in the Point Depot in 2006 and was a little disappointed at the lack of energy but then I'd probably gone there with too much expectation and was in denial that they weren't in their early 20s anymore!

Like you say not as much as there used to be but there was still a good bit of life in them, well in McCready anyway he was still jumping around like it was '92. The only downside was with them being an album band no matter what the setlist there's always a good ten songs you'd wish they'd played. Still wasn't a bad line up;

Saw them at the O2 arena last week and it's probably the best live performance I've seen by any band at any time. Think it helped that the set list was really varied and encompassed old and new, the band seemed in great spirits and atmosphere at the venue was good over the entire 28 song set! Probably helps that they tour the UK once every 5-10 years so when they do play everyone is up for it.

Superb night!

Used to listen to Ten and VS. all the time when I was a kid and was visiting my cousin since he had both records. Was brilliant. Then after that I never listened to their music again and don't know that much about the rest of their stuff.

I picked up VS a couple of days ago again and it's still great.

The opening tune "Go" makes me want to go outside the house and punch random people for some reason.

They are coming down to Brisbane on the 25th of November.  Hopefully I can get my hands on a ticket !
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

I'd try hard to go and see them. I'd seen them before and they were good but at the O2 the other week they were breath takingly good. All the reviews seemed to say so as well. All the other European shows and the early dates on the US tour have received good press as well.

At the O2, 8 out of the 1st 10 songs they played were pre-1994 releases. The fact that the new album isn't out yet probably means they refrained from playing too much stuff from it. May be different when it comes to late November though! If you are lucky, it might be like the Toronto show last week where Eddie Vedder played solo as the support act ( the support act were stopped at border control). The cover of 'Needle and the Damage Done' he performed was superb - check it out on YouTube.

They were showing a show of theirs on TV and advertised for the show on it as well.  All I need is some company.  People I know here aren't that into Pearl Jam sadly.  Poor fuckers here couldn't tell Pearl Jam from Strawberry Jam really.  ;D
