They brought out some spicey flavoured ones - orange pack. Absolutely gorgeous. But they were better in the triangular days.

It pisses me off when shops put Snack-A-Jacks in with the crisps.

They are not crisps!

And they're for women and gays. FACT.

They lost all merit and face in the crisp world when they released the caramel version.

I bet they got laughed out of the "Convention for Real Innovative Savoury Products and Snacks" (C.R.I.S.P.S.) when they brought those out...

Aha very clever.

Talking of the innovation scale of things, I remember when Cheetos came into competition with Wotsits not so long back. Bringing out the same snack, but inferior in terms of flavour, isn't a good place to start.

But I'm a crisp connoisseur.

Aye - a pile of shite. Ruffles and Pringles are the only things even worth taking into consideration, but when I wouldn't give them a second look over here.

Having said that - and vaguely related to my previous post - Cheetos, Pandilla flavour. Ghost shaped crisps but absolutely beautiful. Forgot about them and that's the only time Spain have the upper hand in the crisp world.

Best crisps in general are McCoys. Just what you always hope for in a crisp. Love the big packs they do (or used to) or rock salt with the tomato salsa dip.

Second to that would have to go with any variety of kettle chips....

Indeed. I would also add that Pringles seem to have lost their flavour to an extent, as the years have gone by. I remember nodding in agreement at their slogan upon eating a tube within the space of twenty minutes. But nowadays, I could happily put them back on the shelf for tomorrow.

And if you desire Smoky Bacon flavoured crisps, steer clear from the Pringles effort and stick with the safe option of Walkers. Take it from me.

Can I say at this juncture, that as yet I have failed to see mention of what, IMO, is the greatest salt and vinegar brand out there:

I believe that they won the 'Salt and Vinegar World Cup' recently too.

Good choice, but I would say not to underestimate the Hoola Hoops Salt & Vineger crisps. Who, unlike Quavers, did a decent job with them.

Gotta say the best salt 'n' vinager has to be disco's - quite strong flavour but tip top all the same. Anyone notIced the packs of disco's shrinking though??

(Gotta give sqaures a mention as well though as they are a close second to me)

Certainly, Hula Hoops are in the big league. The top 4. The Ivy League. The All-stars. The G8. Especially when you rock up to a service station and they're selling the 'Big Bags'.

OR, the boxes of mini-ones you see mostly in Blockbusters. Beautiful.

Here's a question though: every crisp lovers dream. A clump of flavour. Best packet you've found one in?

When did this happen? And why was I not informed?

I shall answer your esteemed question when I've thought of a worthy answer.

They MAY have stopped doing them. But when you're next in Blockbusters, have a quick check. You just never know. I used to get them from Tesco but they stopped stocking them.

Anyway, my answer to my own question would be Frazzles. Unfortunately I've never come across it. The best I've had were in a BBQ Hula Hoops.

The greatest cheese and onion flavour crisp ever made, was Golden Wonder.  I could happily eat 73 packs of Golden Wonder cheese n' onion crisps in about 8 minutes.  They were fucking unbelievable.

Always found Pringles to have a horrible dull aftertaste.  The new 'rice infusion' ones are very nice though.

Feeling like an arl fella now ........................ i used to love these Rancheros:

Anyone remember them?  Bacon flavour.  Superb. Whatever happened to them?

Here is what I found on web. no real pic (has an avatar only) until I buy some and upload it.

The shop where I lived sold them for 25p, but you can get 10 for a pound, nearly all pubs in Workington sell them.
