I've a tip to make that effect look more realistic.
Create a displacement map and then use it with with overlay as the layer mode.
To create a displacement map, you need to make an exact copy of your base layer that you want to map the image onto and create it as a new grayscale PSD. All you do is go to file>new then set the document to grayscale in the settings and make sure you enter the exact dimensions of the layer you want to copy. Once the file opens, just copy and paste the wall background in, and then go to filters and gaussian blur. Set it to about 2.5 and then save it as wall_displacement.psd.
Once you've done that, just go into the file that you are working on and select the top layer (Suarez) and then go to filter> distort> displace. A new box opens up asking the parameter scale. I just usually leave it at the default of 10 and 10, but you can expirement with it. Click OK, and another box pops open asking you to select the displacement map. Select the one you created earlier (wall_displacement.psd) and it will do the rest. Next go to your layers with the Suarez layer selected, and you'll see a drop down box that usually says 'normal' in it. Drop it down and select overlay. You can then go into layer properties by going to 'layer' then layer style> blending options. Here you can set the opacity down a touch to complete the effect.
Edit - I see you've the blending modes sussed. Sometimes Overlay is too transparant.
Thanks for that Mac. I think it does make it look better.
I made the wall longer and toyed with idea of doing a sort of montage with all the players and management on, but unfortunately I have no artistic ability whatsoever and it just looks pish. Someone with your artistic temperament might be able to make it look smart. maybe even an old sort of world war 2 bombed alleyway.
Also was gonna have SG, JC, MK and Jay holding a ball and asking "3 and in, or 60 secs" on a wall. Reminds me of playing them games against brick walls as goals.
might get round to the 2nd one sometime.
Prob not though. :-)
