Now that 538 has stopped doing football is there an alternative ranking system? Always found it interesting.

Thanks Prof!

Everton are now at -7. They can still turn it around.

You mean they would still fit in a graph with a readable scale... But in a few weeks they won't.  ;D

I was going to say it’s a few weeks only because of the break. But looks like they are already off it!

Oooh, look at us. Making gains already. Of course we know it won't last. Villa at Anfield are going to be way too tricky. Terrible record against that Emery lad.

Wonder how they model that. United being above some of those other sides seems wild.

Nice to see but sadly from next week that red line will drop quicker than Everton drop points

Looking at the OP Chelsea had the easiest start of any team, and their longest run of easy games, the first six all three pointers. They are currently -8.

City have had as much of an easy start, but they've won all their games at least.

Good start to the season from us, unfortunately we always struggle against Chelsea in recent years, draw was a good result but with Forest beating them, it's kind of disappointing.

I'm not active on here much so I'm not sure what you're implying with that, but they've played away games against newly promoted sides, they at the very least have the 2nd easiest start out of those teams.

I‘d say City by a large margin, they literally had 2 promoted sides away from home, Newcastle (who struggle away from st. James park) and a Fulham side missing their best player. Honestly couldn’t have drawn an easier schedule for them, which seems fishy as their only weakness has ever been their start of the season.

That’s the regular table. On the APLT the first six fixtures are all par threes.

The next 4 after the international break and before the next 1 is huge really. 3 par 1s there. If we can be +2 or better after this set then it really is a strong start to the season.

And City play two of their first par 1s then too - so we will have more of an idea as to where they are.

I would say we should be looking for a minimum of 8 points from those 4 games which would give us +2. Mainly because I don't think Wolves are a top 13 team this year.

So Wolves away is a par 1, but Man City home isn't? What are the pars based on, recent records?

I know we have a strong record against City at home in recent years, but it certainly to most it's viewed as one of the most difficult matches on the calendar.

All home games are par 3. Aways against teams who placed 1 to 13 the previous season are par 1's.

That because Wolves finished 13th and west ham 14th.
Winning a Par 1 where it a team likely to be 10-13 gives the leeway for when points are likely dropped(in a par 3)
