World Cup Qualifier vs. Australia today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBsOqpAklEI

Represented by former head of human rights council in UN, current head of women' rights committee in UN, and Leading "Anti-Terror" member of Arab world (sorry that I have to hold my laugh, all in all while bring the biggest state sponsor of ISIS). The c*nts who just got billions of arms deal and May has vowed selling more arms to as apparently "selling arms to Saudi Arabia make British citizens in UK safer".

Okay rant out. I know I may have an anti-Saudi bias because I'm Persian, but I never thought they'd sink THIS low.

Absolutely shocking.....

This.

Oil is the only reason why the West are interested in the place.

What most annoys me is that nobody from the commentators calls them out. That's probably the worst.

Probably just afraid that they had a legitimate reason.

Well in fairness they did observe the minutes silence, there was just no embrace at the centre circle. If they were making a statement it was a bit lack lustre...

No. It's disrespectful to the memory of those who lost their lives. Their friends, families and anyone else affected by the tragedy more than anything else.

What could possibly be a legitimate reason to disobey a minute's silence for victims of extremist terror?

The Guardian are saying that it was Saudi "officials" who were behind it.

Quote
Adam Peacock, a presenter with Fox Sports Australia, said on Twitter the Asian Football Confederation has approved the minute’s silence against the wishes of travelling Saudi officials. He said the Football Federation of Australia “tried to reason” with the Saudis but were unable to persuade them to participate in the tribute.

possibly because a terrorist attack of similiar magnitude in their part of the world wouldn't generate a minute's news item, nevermind a minutes silence

not that I support them

Minutes of silence are REQUESTED by the home side. Same way we have it at Anfield every time a legend passes away / Hillsborough anniversaries. Almost 99% of the time the away side agrees to it and complies. Is it too much to ask for a moment of silence ?

And it's not like the moment of silence was for Tehran attack victims (Whom Saudis hate), it was for UK which is a brother state to Australia.

Do you think if there was a bombing in UAE, and this game was taking place in Riyadh and Saudis asked Aussie officials to hold a minute of silence for the victims, the Aussie team and players would refuse ? Would they fuck ?

Stop making excuses for the inexcusable.

Not the entire story. Two Australian nationals died in the attack on London bridge.

Despicable behaviour given that 2 Aussies died in the attacks and the Aussie request for a minute silent was refused.

I'm reserving judgment on the Saudi players though until I know the full story. It seems to me that this was a call by the Saudi officials, not the players. And given what I know about how some football associations in that part of the world treat their players (e.g. Uday Hussein torturing players when he was head of the Iraqi FA) I'm not going to be so quick to lay into a Saudi player who's probably worried that him/his family might be on the receiving end of some dickhead Saudi Prince's temper if he disobeys him.

Do you really think Australia would have refused a request for a minute's silence, had it been the other way round?

I can't really understand why anyone would refuse, it seems extremely offensive for something that costs you very little.
