Comedy clubs in Liverpool
« on: May 30, 2006, 03:43:40 pm »
I am thinking of arranging a night out for a group of lads in one. Any recommendations as to which one is the best in Liverpool?

Everton Football Club :D

Sorry had to be done!
So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

Have a look at www.killforaseat.com

Silky is from Liverpool and it would definitely be worth finding out whether he's playing in Liverpool any time soon. He's involved with Rawhide, although that's not all he does.

Comedy festival is in July.

People behind Rawhide now run the Royal Court (after a fashion ... just liquidated one company ...)

Alright, so I'm bumping this even if it is over 8½ years old!  What are all the comedy clubs in town at the minute?  Know of the Slaughterhouse and there's this one too (http://liverpoolcomedycentral.co.uk/) but my mind's pulling a blank on others.

Last time I went there I saw masturbating chimpanzees. Whether you think that's worthy of £22 is up to you. All I'll say is I now have an annual pass.

An Everton comedy night on there, could just be the premiere of their season review.

There's a new one in the Magnet on a Friday night. It's run by one of the local comics, Bren Riley, and is pretty good.

Not great. Tends to be new local comics rather than established circuit acts. It's a nice little set up but if you want guaranteed laughs you are better off at Laughterhouse, Comedy Cellar or the one at Baby Blue (but their bills can be hit and miss).

Went to the Comedy Cellar tonight, really enjoyed it. We got to the pub about half seven and we were the first in, it was dead but people started arriving just before eight

Nice vibe about the place once we got down there and the acts were really good, very funny.

What’s the best comedy club in town now?  Laughterhouse is top according to TripAdvisor.  Is it better than Hot Water?

Slaughterhouse is shite.  Full of stag-dos and hen-partys from Warrington or places like that who just want one of their group to be humiliated.  It goes, line-laugh, line-laugh, line-laugh ad infinitum.  If you're sober enough to actually analyse what's being said, it's not funny at all.  There are pubs in Liverpool (away from town) with characters who are naturally funnier than some of the tripe they put on in here.  Those who enjoy this place are easily pleased, that's for sure.
