My tuppence ha'penny.

Over the years I've heard a lot of shit spouted about Kenny's bona fides as a manager. "I could have won the double with that squad!", people say. "Blackburn bought the title!", others say. The implication always being that Dalglish was lucky. In the right place, at the right time, with the right players. Anyone could have done it. He's never really been tested.

This, in my humble opinion, is bollocks. Anyone lucky enough to live through the last period when Kenny was manager of this club will tell you that, as a manager, he was shrewd, intelligent, focused, inspirational. All of the qualities he'd had as a player, he managed to bring with him into this new life. And then? Well, we all know (or think we know) the circumstances of his departure - following unimaginable horror.

I've often thought all this robbed the game of someone who could have (who really knows?) gone on to be an all-time great as a manager. Despite the crap regularly spouted about his inability to "cut it" in the hot-seat he had, I reckon, all the gifts and credentials necessary to become a managerial legend. Are they still there? Can he still summon them? Can he translate them to the here and the now?

We shall see. But, for today at least, let's welcome the return of the classiest act ever to wear a red shirt. And one of the classiest managers the club has ever seen.

Welcome back.

Excited but almost lost for words.

Football has changed tactically so lets see how he goes about it and in particular it will be interesting to see how he manages and forms bonds with the foreign players especially.
If he retires I'll eat my fucking cock.

Great anti climax for those expecting jizzihno....

I feel relieved but apprehensive for Kenny himself.

If the players cant raise themselves for Kenny then they arnt worth spit in my opinion.

Lets get behind the club now, stop the infighting, stop the hate and get on with whats important, on pitch matters.

Agree with this.

Today is a small step in what will be a long journey. Too many people appear to think all our problems have been solved, when in reality we are still in turmoil on the pitch.
The real barometer will not be what happens at OT tomorrow, or in the derby next week, but what happens on a cold, wet night in Blackpool on Wednesday.

So, he's back. I can barely type this as I'm in fucking heaven right now, and my hands are shaking.

How do you feel?
Did you think you'd ever see the day when Kenny returned?
How do you think he'll do?
Where do you think we'll finish this season?

One thing's for sure, the feelgood factor is about to go through the fucking roof. The passion will be back! The ground will be bouncing! And whatever happens for the rest of the season, the club is united once more!!

Get the fuck in!!

Absolutely delighted, dont have the word really to describe the emotions.

Already this appointment has given a huge boost to everyone - if the players feel half as good about it as we do then they will put in the performance of a lifetime tomorrow.

I cant wait to see him interviewed, see him lead the team out and show Fergie, and all the others that Liverpool are not a spent force.

Bloody fantastic news.

Welcome back Kenny! When you walk through a storm... you come out the other side. Cheers everybody!  :wave
If you ask Smalling and Brown if they'd rather play Suarez or Carroll, they'd say Suarez all day long, because he's not going to bully them or run in behind them.

Although very happy Roy has finally moved on i was a bit sceptical about Kenny due to reservations about him being out of management for so long etc.

But having listened to an interview on 5Live with sports journalist Henry Winter earlier, i feel much better now.  Winter spent alot of time with Kenny helping him write his autobiography and is adamant Kenny is fully in touch with the modern day game and where the shortfalls are in the Liverpool team at the moment.

Winter basically said don't be fooled Kenny sits around in a suit all day shaking hands with sponsors or lying on a sunbed dreaming of past glories.

He reckons will Kenny will continue to do the club proud but I guess we all know that anyway ;D

Anyway...Happy Fuckin days...Beating the Mancs at OT is no mean feat with any squad or any manager but as long as we give a good account of ourselves tomorrow i will be satisfied.  But if we actually win it will be the best result for Liverpool FC for many moons and a dream start for the King.

Kenny back is a many steps forward compared with keeping that senile Roy on board.  NESV could have lost many supporters if they persisted with Roy, an absolute failure of a manager and man.

Can people stop mentioning Ferguson and 'perch' in the same sentence, last time I checked
we had five European Cups and were still the most successful team in Britain.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

oh god im so emotional right now. I was gutted in Feb 1991 when he left us (as gutted id Gerrard had joined Chelsea).... had to wait twenty years. I feel there is a lot of unfinished business here. The last manager to win the league for us. I am so worried tho should it go wrong but at the moment there is hope in my heart.

id like to thank Roy for giving it a go and not forcing the owners hand into sacking him...good luck! It should have always been Kenny and the blame should really fall at the previous owners. Roy knew that Kenny wanted it and that we wanted Kenny so was always on a loose loose situation.

:)

cant wait to see the look on Kenny's face when he appears on the touchline...i will feel like im 19 again. (39 now)
walk on...walk on...

I wish it hadn't come to this but in the midst of a storm, I can't think of a better man to take care of the team between now and the summer. At the very least he will motivate and inspire, command respect, foster a collective spirit in the camp and galvanise the support. I don't think the transmformation in results will be instant but I'm sure the club will finish this season in much better shape than we started it and our current sorry league position.

I'm relieved, but I'm keeping my expectations to a minimum. Don't expect Kenny to perform miracles. But I'm happy Roy's out. He was clueless and now I mostly feel sorry for him.

So in sum, it's a day of mixed emotions.

Over the moon, a little worried at the same time in case he doesn't do any better than Roy.

I was in the Kop 20 years ago to watch Kenny's last home match as manager against Everton. I still remember where I was the moment I heard that Kenny had resigned as manager and how in a state of shock I was all that weekend. Next Sunday I will be in the Kop again to watch Kenny's first home match back as Liverpool manager, again against Everton and I can't wait. Today I feel like a school kid again, so excited about going to the match. just want the Everton match to be now.

KING KENNY IS BACK!!! Made my weekend!!!!  :)

I saw the derby game I had a ticket for as a bit of a chore. But now it's going to be amazing.

I'm delighted apart from Rafa there is no other manager and man that gets us more. That is more one of us.

Kenny Dalglish is the best player the club has ever had. I've met him a few times and he's got an aura of something beyond normal people. He's such a humble lovely man and yet he radiates greatness. I love the guy. He's got a difficult job. But the idea of him being in charge?

Words cannot express it. Liverpool through and through and through.
