When was the last time we scored from open play?!?!
Never seen him playing I think. But looks like a good player.

Konate is so poor on the ball.

No movement. No precision. No ability to get past a man. One team played with effort and intensity, and it wasn't the team needing goals.
We've really fallen off a cliff lately for some reason.

A win, but we are out 1-3.
A disappointing performance. We never managed to open them up. It was that one chance for Salah where he really should have scored in the first half. Thought we were too slow in our passing. Every player who received the ball was facing our goal. Their player always rigjt behind, making it a physical battle or we had to play the ball back again. We never had any sustained pressure. A tactical win for Atalanta. Congrats to them. They deserved to go through.

Damage was done last week with how we played last week. No way back from that tonight. Overall they deserved it.

To end on a positive note - hey, at least we didn't concede tonight

Pathetic. Absolutely nauseatingly so. My stomach was actually turning from 70 mins onwards when we just continuously passed it between Alison, VVD, Konate and MacAllister at the 18 yard line.

We gave up.

And ironically our subs killed the game but for us.

Would've helped if the referee gave us a hand with all their gamesmanship but we deserved absolutely nothing on that second half display. And I'll be honest, I'm absolutely fucking fuming. Feel so sorry for those of ours who travelled there tonight. That display was nothing short of pathetic.

Not sure what the game plan was.

The tie turned on two moments: the Szoboszlai mistake that gave Atalanta the third at Anfield, and then the Salah miss here. Pre-AFCON he'd have buried that, and we have 45+ minutes to score just once against a rattled Atalanta to level the tie.

In the second half we just seemed completely out of ideas and belief - aimless punt after aimless punt, and the frequent gulf between defence and attack meant we rarely seemed to try and knit together moves. The limpness of the performance was actually much more concerning than if we'd squandered a bunch of chances. We seem like a side who is already done with this season.

Very difficult to see us taking maximum points from the series of PL away games like this, although I suppose if we can grind out six more 1-0 wins that wouldn't be so bad...

Another game (tie) we had all the chances we needed to win in the first half and didn't take them.
Fair dues to Atalanta, but that's a tie we should have won.

When was our last goal from open play? Brighton?

Looking at getting knocked out of Jurgen's last chance to win a European Trophy with us and I've just watched Alisson, Virgil & Konate play a rondo amongst themselves for 45 minutes.

Pathetic from a lot of those players tonight.

They should be embarrassed.

I can accept losing but I'm so disappointed with the attitude of them all to not even care or put the effort in. This isn't how I think of our team under Klopp and it's sad that it ends like this instead of having a nice send off.

Last week destroyed us but at least we won tonight and kept a clean sheet. I hope those who took part in that shitshow last week take a look in the mirror and consider what could have been.

As for Atalanta, I really don't see what all the fuss is about. They'll get walloped in the next round and forgotten about, mid table dross at best who were lucky and got us in a dip in form. The team we put out tonight destroys them at Anfield, end of fucking story.

The league. Get it fucking done.

That's the most uninspiring half of football I've seen us play in a long, long time.

Totally, when mo missed that more than easy chance that was that. Absolutely nothing in the second half, no passion no pace side to side passing then back to the keeper.

The sad part is how we threw in the towel, for the love of god I wouldnt mind use Allardyce tactics in last 15-20 mins, lump it to Nunez and put people around him in the hope that something falls their way. Far better than the crap we had to witness.

What the hell is going on. Everyone bar Ali look like they've never touched a ball before.

Nothing like constantly seeing us pass it around the backline with zero urgency, only to smash it blindly into the middle causing a break against. Fucking hell...

We probably could have gotten a better outcome playing like prime Wimbledon. Playing the ball across your own goal for 45 mins made things easy for Atalanta. As if we learned nothing from the 1st leg

Essentially three games without a goal; hard to get excited about scoring from the broken handball rule.

Clean sheet is the only positive, otherwise this team is completely stuffed and the season can't end soon enough.

That was embarrassing to watch. West Ham put up more of a fight against Leverkusen. Szoboszlai shouldn’t be near the starting 11 for the rest of the season and we might as well go back to playing the kids up top. Sick of seeing us refuse to shoot just to make 2 more passes and give the ball away. Somebody grow a pair and fucking shoot!

I fully agree with the tactic of keeping it tight for one half but in the second we had to go for it more. No one had the willingness to try something. Everyone was scared stiff of giving the ball away.

How we can look far more tired than Atalanta at the end, after the effort they put in, is fucking amazing.

Mentality midgets back with a vengeance it seems.

We are so fucking easy to play against at the moment. It helps that we are almost guaranteed not to score!

Nunez at 0 v 0

Salah at 3 v 1

That’s where we were beaten

I'd probably say spending about 30 minutes of play passing it between our Keeperand defence instead of trying to advance the ball also did it.

Or 70 million lobbed balls directly into their keepers hands every single time without fail.

You could physically feel the belief drain away when Mo missed that sitter.

I’m not a professional football coach, and not up on the modern tactical game, but I do feel that “can’t defend, can’t score” may not be the premium strategy for winning football matches?

Nonetheless, congratulations to Atalanta - they soundly beat us over two legs, and worked immensely hard to do so.

Missed the goal and started watching from the 15th minute and within 5-10 minutes you could just tell we weren't scoring anymore.

No goals from open play in the last 3 matches is worrying.

Not one of our players was able to cope with being marked. Alisson had more of the ball than anyone else.
Atalanta were strong and disciplined and we had no answer. That was a poor way to get dumped out. Our midfield and attack are suddenly looking poor apart from Mac Allister.

What a waste of time. We got the early advantage and pressed quite well in the first half leading to some good turn overs in possession. Created small amount of chances but promising going into the second half at least

The 2nd half is one of the most disappointing viewings as I've had in awhile. We had no answer to their man marking and we had no alternative ideas in order to bypass it. I'd be almost tempted just to leave the ball at Alisson's feet, push the whole team forward for the last 15 minutes on the goal kicks and look for knock downs advanced in their area. Anything would have been better than that.
