What is it with modern day training methods, years ago in more simple, less scientific times there seemed to be far less serious injuries. We got through a season sometimes using a bare minimum squad and that being a long season at that.

Add to that we played on many a heavy mud bath pitch and before the days a good slidey was outlawed, it makes you wonder why players seem to suffer more strains, pulls and twists these days than ever before!

There is strong suspicion that the slew of metatarsal injuries are down the the brightly colored paper mache things they call 'boots'.

Massive blow considering his impact in the last few games. Showed genuine quality combined with a tireless work ethic and would have fit very nicely into a Jurgen Klopp side.

The biggest injury blow so far imo after Henderson.

Really shit news and pretty unexpected considering there was no real news and then suddenly "out for the season". Coming straight after the news about Gomez that is two young players who have had good starts who have had a big blow. Hope they can come back as soon as possible, still a chance they may come back before the end of the season but probably only from a fitness point of view, they probably won't play in the first team by then.

The problem is the way Brendan stuck into him after the Sturridge injury (which was justified at the time). The issue is that Sturridge got injured in training with us several more times over the season which means that we are in no position to complain about how others treat our players when they also get injured with us as well.
Some clubs were always destined for greatness...

It's longer standing than that. I couldn't give a fuck about England, so it's always frustrating when Liverpool players get injured when training/playing with them.

For me it goes back to when Barnes got injured in an England friendly putting him out for half a season at a point when we desperately needed him.

Terrible blow for both players who, for differing reasons, have made a good impression in the early part this season. Although I imagined Gomez would be used less frequently, he looks some player. For Ings, it must be shattering - a week or so after scoring in the Derby and when he's started to look like he could be a first team player, and with a new manager newly arrived too.

May not be out the whole season.

Let him come on as sub in the run in, he can play in the final league game and join in with lifting the premier league trophy and be in the first XI for Europa Final.

Sorted.

Been a bit of discussion about how the injury came about.

Everyone's favourite Charlie Adam currently speaking on 5 live and said he spoke with Danny earlier in the week.

Understandable said he's gutted and that no one was near him when it happened. Just went to turn and felt it give way.

Also said, as reported, that it's not a complete rupture like poor Young Gun Joe so hopefully closer to 6 than 9 months.

Me too mate. To a ridiculous level to be honest. When I heard about it yesterday I was ridiculously sad about the whole situation, he'd have thrived working hard for his new manager and we'd all have enjoyed the benefits of his inexorable endeavours across what is still a long season ahead.

Lets hope he's available to provide some rest to the other players as we edge towards 3 cup finals in 2016.

Keep your chin up Danny lad, you've given sufficient not to be forgotten mate. See ya in March.

He's done an interview comes across as a top fella with a great attitude, considering the news he got just over 24hrs ago. When he explains how he picked up the injury it sums up the luck the Club are having with injury's at the moment.

that interview is brilliant.

Quote
After all, he has a new manager to impress, just like every one of his Liverpool team-mates, and while he cannot be in Jürgen Klopp’s plans for Saturday’s game at Tottenham, or indeed the next six months, Ings firmly believes that he can make an impression on the new Liverpool boss in other ways. “As modern-day professionals it all comes down to how you perform on the pitch,” he says. “But you can’t perform on the pitch unless you are doing all the stuff off it in the correct manner, especially at this level.

“The only way I can get in his [Klopp’s] thoughts and show him what a good professional I am is the way I am in the gym or by being positive around the lads. Sometimes negativity can rub off on players and I don’t want to affect their performance. When you are injured you have to keep a positive mindset and keep moving forward.

Power to the lad, superb stuff. He has his time under the knife soon which is (IMO) a depressing situation, exhausting, surprisingly difficult BUT he can recover and it is all about his positive mindset which this kid seems to have in abundance. Good luck fella ;)

Gutted for Danny.  Seems like a great lad and the attitude and fight that he's shown so far for the club has been outstanding and has put some of the other players to shame. I really hope that he comes back strongly from what must feel like - given the timing - a huge setback for him.
