People often forget that Ings has seriously outscored Vardy from 2013 to 2015, while they were playing in the same leagues.

Good to see Danny back. A good player who scored goals and works hard. Seems strange that a few people are still whinging about him. What evidence we've seen of him in a red shirt points to an excellent piece of business. Maybe people forget or are too young to remember voronin and Jovanovic gracing our strikers subs bench.
Although thus far he's carried on our poor injury record with Dannys. Agger, sturridge and ings  :'(

I felt bad Ings didn't get on the field tonight. We do have a lot of players who need minutes, Klopp did say after the game he promised him some game time in the next match. So maybe a start for him on the cards?

He should get used to sitting on a bench tbf. Good experience for him ahead of the coming season.

Harsh. But probably true. Always good to have options to bring on though. Works hard, which would be great if you are looking to the front line to work hard. And on the flip can get you a goal if you are chasing. Typical Klopp player if you look at his work rate - it's up to him to show the quality upfront.

Just goes to show how bloated the squad is for the upcoming season - without enough games - especially since Ings will produce if he plays.

Champions often have these kind of players like Solskjaer/Chicharito/Fairclough , players who get off the bench and score you vital goals. I could see Ings having that role for us as he has that poacher quality to anticipate things in the box. It would be no shame if that was his predominant role in the squad , to try to get us goals off the bench once nothing else works.

All the FA Cup/League Cup games are his, also Sturridge is unlikely to play every Premier League game

I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.

You think? I'd have thought that which ever of Origi and Sturridge doesn't play the league game before the cup games would get the cup game.

He'll be fourth choice regardless of if Benteke goes. Sturridge, Origi and Firmino are all ahead of him.

The chances Sturridge/Origi/Firmino are all fit all season (one of them in particular) is incredibly unlikely. Ings will get plenty of games this season, and he may just impress enough to take the spot of the aforementioned players. Feel we always struggle with Firmino playing the striker role anyway so it's really only 3 spots.

I was actually a bit disappointed that he didn't play in the last game. I really rate him actually, I tink he's got the mentality and the intelligence to be a top PL striker. And at his age, he still has time on his hands to prove it. Hope it is with us.

I wonder if a Flanno style season long loan to get his fitness back is the best for him. If he stays he will be 4th choice and barely play, which when you are recovering from a long term injury is no good for you. On the other hand both Daniel and Divock have injury history and we could easily lose both for a period of time so I can see why we should keep him here too.

I definitely see Ings here long term as I love his attitude, energy and goalscoring ability, but maybe without European footy a loan would benefit him long term.

Agree with this mate. Really like Ings, and he seems to be a Klopp type player too. Never stops working and gives 100% every second he's on the pitch. Also seem to have his feet on the ground and to be a very nice person off the field.

More clear than ever that fitness is the issue in that case, getting more game time under his belt.

This. After social media erroneously blew up over the perceived inference that Klopp was lumping Ings with Balotelli and Benteke, Klopp had mentioned that Ings' fitness had been an issue on the tour, which had limited his playing time. It's only natural given the length of time he was out and the extent of his injury that we will be cautious.

yep that's a wise move - unlikely to get much time from the bench today so makes sense to play for the 'reserves'
