While I'd be pissed off if that penalty had been given against us, Richards arms were up and he made himself a bigger obstacle. Sometimes you get them sometimes you don't.

Playing well should be more ahead but for a couple of great saves from Hart. Keep it up lads. Think we will need one more though. Playing well enough to get it. Hopefully city dont change their formation, playing right into our hands. With Richards on yellow and Savic there for the taking anytime, Bellamy should keep running at them, hopefully one will get sent off.

Very harsh penalty, can see why it was given though.
Adam got away with a blatant penalty
Downing's lack of confidence is pissing me off
Kuyt needs to get more involved, if only to give Johnson a chance to exploit Kolarov.
Enrique/Downing need to stop running into the same area of the pitch, one of them should go on the inside once in a while
Adam+Gerrard are doing well on the whole
Skrtel and Agger are in beast mode thus far
Bellamy plays like he's on speed, and I fucking love it for as long as it lasts

Would take full time now

Really have to stop shitting ourselves when we're in shooting positions

Anyone complaining about Adam not covering the De Jong goal needs to sit down and ask themselves - Would they rather De Jong shooting from 30 odd yards or to see David Silva running at our defence with runners around him?

If you use your arms to make a bigger target then it is considered deliberate handball and that's why it was given. What makes it a harsh decision is the fact that it hit his foot first and the handball was not directly from the shot.

They were a little unlucky, but it was a pen, he hand was so far in front of his face.

They should have had a pen though, 100% no ambiguity.

Not sure it's the formation that much. The balls moving quicker and people are moving into spaces looking for the ball to be played quickly.

Good tempo overall from the lads but City have more to throw at us, we need to be more clinical when chances fall our way oh and that Savic is struggling, a lesson to all about playing youngsters before they are ready.

Great performance so far from us, though again we haven't taken our chances and we got sucker punched when de jong just hit it sweetly. That's what happens when you give someone too much space to shoot.

At least we have come straight back and got the pen. Could be harsh but the arms were up ready to stop any shot, but we deserved to have a goal.

Just another 45 mins effort boys, COMON!

Dear God I was pissed off when they scored. I still don't think Henderson has any idea of the position he's meant to be playing in - he's a terrible ball-watcher - and Adam's so bloody sluggish. We're desperately missing pace in the side generally and I would sell my soul for a technical midfielder.

Was really nice to see Downing open up City down the left towards the end of the half though, he's not been doing that enough. Bellamy is an absolute legend.

Effort and desire doesnt cover massive holes in the middle of your midfield. With 3 men playing in there and Dirk doing his defensive work on one of the flanks...we look like a brick wall and at the same time more threatening than they do when we attack.

Great response from the lads after the City goal, I think we look great up until we get to about 20 yards from their goal.

Bellamy's been class, Downing has been ok but there was a couple of times when him and Enrique seemed to get in each other's way and effectively close of the space for each other.

Still, anything can happen in the second half, we defo need one more.
