Not to mention that spitting incident with baros... That was a yellow for sure.

I don't think it was in to be honest. Although I haven't studied the replays. I'm not arsed anyway, we're due some luck.

You could still miss a penalty, so I'd take the goal.
As realtarragona says, we are really due some luck there. Been supremely unlucky whole season long.
It's happening at just the right moment.

It's a moot point, but at that moment I would have taken the penalty and a red card for Cech over a goal.

Why? The chances are high that we would have scored the penalty and Chelsea would have been left with 10 men. Even if we didn't score, Chelsea would still be left with ten men and with the Kop in fine voice urging our players on, I'm sure we would have no problem scoring a few goals in the remaining 86 minutes of play.

I would have taken the goal. Because i know after that, we won it. If we had a pen and cech sent off, who's to say we would have scored the pen; we are awful at taking them. Also Cudicini ain't a bad keeper either.

It should have been a penalty in the first place and a red card but i personally feel that the linesman gave the goal to save a sending off and the ref played advantage to LFC.

Myself i'd rather have the goal and i'm glad we got it, whether it was in or not, cos that goal's taking us to Istanbul, but what really pisses me off is yes it was a bad decision, and never mind Cech getting a red he never even got spoken to, and some of the things the Russian rent boys got away with when you see the inocuous challenge that made Xabi miss this match, just make your blood boil, but hey we're off to Istanbul so who cares

I'm loving the both comments! A goal shouldn't negate the need for a red card. But if it's a straight choice, I'd stick with what we've got as we know we are in the final now, whereas there's no knowing for certain how things would have been otherwise. Would have been amusing for their top goalie to be sent off, but it still wouldn't have guaranteed a goal for us.

I am completely certain it was a goal now after watching the multi-angle shots on e-season (was pretty sure before) I've paused it with the ball clearly in the net, can't see how to get a screen shot, but if anyone knows how let me know and I'll post it here.

well we made it anyway . . .

but would have taken Cech off and given the goal!

Yellows should have been shown for Terry's handball and spitting at Baros . . .

Who gives, we  are going to Istanbul and they are off home to cry!

i would take the penalty and send off because penalty would succed and ten men chelsea who had to score would be a nice counter attack victim for lfc forwards. anyway whocares :)

option 1 would have you been brave enough to give it that way infront of the KOP well the whole ground were screeming. Still think he should have been sent off for the foul on Baros but nothing happend.

Cudicini - so no great advantage there, other than the fact that they'd have been an outfield man down.  But how many times have 10 men triumphed over 11?  I'd take the goal.

Not read this thread so bare with me...

Goal for me.

The goal did them a favour imo. Yes we could have missed the pen but equally we could have quite easily scored it. Chelsea would have been tyhen down to 10 men.

If by Luis scoring meant tha the ref had played the advantage, why after the goal was give that the ref did not go back to Cech and book him??

right now i dont give a shit bcoz we r heading to istanbul
i think the ref did them a favour by giving us the goal .. bcoz they would still have 11 men and all they needed was a 1-1 draw to go tru
in the end we know wat happened and im going to hit the booze again

Cech sent off and a penalty, which we hopefully would have scored from.

This way, we would't have to hear about the ghost goal for the next 5 years.

i had to write about an experience in my life and i went for that night. the moment when gudjohnsen sets the ball up and flashes it wide is imo the best football moment i've ever witnessed. the hopes of millions verged on what he was going to do with that ball.

i've just been looking on this pc for the video's i took on my phone on that night but all i can find is one picture. i went the game today and just couldn't help but take a glance from row 70 over to block 206 and just remember what i went through that night. what a night and what a season.
