What a poor review, was absolutely plumb
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Yeah, looked it from the start and I think Burns knew it was too but tried his luck anyway.

Have reviews increased from 2 to 3 recently?

They have, to account for non-neutral umpires

The time was England used have trouble against spinners who turned the ball, both ways, profusely and had a bit of mystery about them.  These days they keep getting out to some bloke who couldn't turn a door handle and just plops it on the same place ball after ball, over after over.

I find it amazing that he keeps taking big wickets.

Good feature now on the 1990 tour. Won the first Test which was a huge shock (think it was shown during the first Test). They’re taking about the 2nd Test now. From memory England had the Windies on the ropes but rain denied them a win and from their it reverted to the norm with the Windies coming back to win the series 2-1.

Could you  phrase that better?

Yes he’s doing well

Balance to be had though, no point digging in so much you’ve dug in until the second new ball

Doing a grand job currently though

Yup, and there is nothing wrong with that. He isn`t exactly box office, but it is quietly effective and sticking around is what openers are there to do

oh, and Stokes is not exactly tanking along either. His rate is about the same as Sibley at the moment

they've already had one bowler pretty much break down so I see nothing wrong with making the rest toil for a bit. it's day 1 after all.

Good stats there! 5th slowest England century since 1990. Atherton has 5 of the top 10!

Really chuffed for him. He definitely has the temperament for this format of the game. Still have doubts about his overall technique. Same with Burns.

he's even actually getting it to move laterally now. if that's the case I'd expect an actual spinner to be turning it at fucking right angles.

Well batted this pair!

What’s the plan here. Get as many as we can, however long it takes and aim to bat once? Or will we see them get a bit more of a wriggle on after Lunch? Inevitably the batsmen who come next will score quicker, but we don’t want to waste the hard work done so far and end up 100 less than we hoped for.

10 test match hundreds for Stokes now.  There aren’t too many England players on the list with 10 or more that aren’t Bona-fide legends.  His name doesn’t look out of place, you have to say.

Hopefully Buttler in tests with a big score on the board is like Buttler in one dayers with a big score on the board... not sure I can remember many occassions he's come in in tests with freedom to biff it about so that could be fun later...

If Flintoff is considered a legend then Stokes definitely should be, he's better than him

I think the fun is about to start. Stokes is clearly winding up to try and knock them all over the park.

Fair play to Sibley as well. Very very solid

Good to see, exactly what we need is a boring bastard to just grind away like this.

He’s done his job really well. But with the forecast as it is, and England one down in 3 test series, you have to wonder whether, as a sheet-anchor mould of player, he has the tools to accelerate.
