He couldn't have asked for a better start to the season! I can see him being brilliant this season as long as he stays fit.

Delighted for the lad. He's had a hard run of misfortune but he seems keen to beat it.

Seems to have humbled himself as well so he could be cracking option from the bench this season.

Great to see him score after the torrid time he's had over the recent years.

It's like having a new signing coming off the bench.  I really hope he can stay fit this season, as he'll get plenty of games and goals.

Nice one Danny  :thumbup

Reckon this will be our plan B when Firmino is out - play lots of midfielders and Sturridge as the lone striker. It gives us another option.

Great to see him score and looking happy!

Interesting the contrast to last season when he also came on to score the fourth of a 4-0 win early in the season. Didn't seem happy then, is dancing now.

Indeed, it's a serious matter to highlight as well though. Goals are worth a point. Take goal scoring seriously, score lots please.

Milner's corner nearly didn't beat the first man (again), the flick-on was a great assist and Sturridge's goal puts us top of the league. Nice that.

Last season even when he scored his body language showed he wasnt happy. That has totaly changed. He looks sharp, confident and happy to be playing a part. We are absolutely going to need to rotate often if we have any ambition to win titles and trophies and we need him to be happy playing his part. I could see him hitting double figures easily if he stays fit. Nice to see the dance is back too.

Bacon face didn't ban Solskjaer from starting you know!  Ideal for me is he's a super sub for league and Champions league games and then starts in the FA cup & rotates during Christmas. Fitness permitting of course.

Just read an interview with Klopp and he is absolutely right. After August and September, the games come thick and fast. 3 Games a week pretty much.
Sturridge will get his games. Spare a thought the likes of Moreno and Solanke who didn't even make the bench despite training all week. It's a long grueling season and we'll need everyone.

All up for him being our better Ole Solskjaer.

The thing is, I think he's realised over the summer he's also happy being that player now. Before I think he was unhappy and wanted to start. Now he's realised this is how he stays at a top club and is content in that role. Will make a huge difference.

Interesting the contrast to last season when he also came on to score the fourth of a 4-0 win early in the season. Didn't seem happy then, is dancing now.

I think the loan did him the world of good. Sturridge came through as a professional when Man City were investing heavily, he then moved to moneybags Chelsea, before coming here. Ever since he's been a professional he's had top class training and facilities.

His loan to a relegation battling club may have been a wake up call. He has it good here, he earns top money and isn't expected to play every single week. There has been several suggestions that he rules himself out for the tiniest of issues. I suspect now that he realises what he has, and is on board with being the super sub, he might be available more often than not. If his contract runs out here then it's back to a small club again and I don't think he fancies it.

It'll be great for us to have a fully motivated Sturridge available when needed. He's light years ahead of Ings, Origi, Solanke for now. A great option to have

I personally don't think he's had some sort of great realisation, I just think we're seeing a fit and motivated Sturridge.

The guy is, and always has been, one of our better players when he's fully fit. I think he's come back from his most recent injury, remotivated after his summer break, and it's showing in his performances. He's surrounded by great players, in a squad that is fun to be in (which is clearly something he thrives on) and with a manager who is a great individual motivator and clearly rates Sturridge as a player.

I don't think we disagree, it's just I believe a large part of his renewed motivation is seeing how shit it can be elsewhere

They key thing is that he has accepted that he can not start every game and that he can make a contribution in the role he's playing. He's found that inner peace if you will, the WBA loan was the reality check.

And also missing out on the run in to the final.

He said as much in his interview in pre-season.
Something along the lines of "better to be involved in the run than to be looking at it from the outside".
Rather than being agitated at not being the number 1, being at WBA has made him more appreciated at being involved in what's happening.
Really hope he has a lot to contribute this season as he's arguably the most clinical finisher at the club.

Do what he did yesterday five more times before January and he'll probably be considered worth it (as long as he accepts he's not getting a big rise)

He's bound to score if he stays fit, just can't see him not. He's on about a hundred grand a week now isn't he? Will he be offered roughly the same you reckon?

I predict 11 goals and 8 assists for Studge and a new contract at the end of the year. Shaqiri will be jealous about scoring only 9.
