O' Robbo Robbo,
His left peg's a dynamo.

He plays like inverted Finnan,
He will help us back to our Perch it is a given.

He is the Scot to the LFC squad,
He has the Kop's approving nod.

O' Robbo Robbo.

I will get me coat.

Hats off to Bill on his throne,
He set the club's standards in stone.
Navigating the storm,
Is the Liverpool norm,
You'll never walk alone!

The him being a Scot stuff is doing him a disservice imo. He's really fucking good.

Scotland have become so bad at football that being called a Scot is a derogatory term? :D

Going back to the 60's, our successful sides have always had very good/great Scottish players, so we need a good Scot if we are going to win anything. :D

Good read that. I know Bruce is a shite manager and the author alludes to the fact he stifled Robbo’s creativity slightly but it was probably useful in the long run, playing in a backs to the wall defensive set up has hopefully enhanced the other side of his game.

The irony is that they were years ahead of their time. They had the misfortune of having wee ball players when the game prioritised size and strength. Now when the game is dominated by the likes of Messi and Silva, diminutive skilful players they have an ex manager complaining about their lack of height.

I think Robertson is a throwback, even the way he runs, the way he straightens his arm out as an alternative to the step over reminds me of players of a far gone era.

Considering the improvement him and VVD have made to our defence for just over £80M combined it's beginning to look like a bargain price. You can't put a price on defensive solidity and they are playing a big part in transforming a formerly joke defence into a very, very good one. Robbo's rampaging runs are genuinely exciting too, as well as a genuine eye for a dangerous ball in the final third.

One thing I like about Robertson is that he has something that we have lacked in recent years, bollocks. The way he roughed up Sterling, and running over to give Alli an earful after diving against us, among many other examples. Nice to have a player who can be a nasty bastard when he wants.

Really good today. Was a bit miffed when jurgen wasn't selecting him early doors and just put it down to Moreno playing well and Robbo still getting up to speed and taking on board what Klopp wants, well he's certainly up to speed now. Defensively a real steady eddie, not flashy but knows his position and going forward always offering width and energy and his crossing can be really dangerous at times. Really enjoyed watching him today, likewise Trent down the opposite flank.

He was caught out for their goal though. Can shouldn't lose possession in the middle like he did but Andy was caught in no mans land too far up and didn't have the pace to get back. Still, it was a good finish from Antonio across Karius but while Robertson marauded forward brilliantly today he wasn't all that great defensively in the second half especially, he made a bad error attempting to cut out a cross-field pass just before they made it 3-1 that left us on the back foot but it fortunately came to nothing.

Great energy, a lovely delivery when he gets it right but he needs to sure up and be more consistent defensively. One-v-one I have absolutely no worries despite his lack of pure pace. But in wide open situations and in terms of positional play there's a lot of work to be done. But he'll improve under Klopp in that regard, no doubt about it.

Was he too far up when he set up Mane's goal? I don't understand how a full-back can get into a crossing position like that without risking incidences like the Antonio goal. If he's anticipating things like Can losing possession, then he hardly pushes up at all and becomes a very different type of full-back.

That said I agree with this. He's an excellent player but I think a combination of factors has led to him being ever-so-slightly overrated, or rather fans tending to overlook his mistakes more than they would with some other players.

He was an absolute steal at £8million, no doubt. He's a top quality player with his best attributes being ones that usually cost you an absolute fucking fortune in that position.
He is the cat who walks by himself, and all roads are alike to him.
