Very, very lucky again. Let’s not sugarcoat because Mane pulled a rabbit out the hat.. we’ve been fucking appalling. You can’t keep getting away with that sort of performance. Midfield is a shambles and the defence hasn’t looked too clever.

Understandably knackered, but the midfield are really struggling to get a hold of the ball, just like Wednesday. On top of that Trent is having an absolute shocker. Everytime I see him he's out of position and not tracking his man, Matip is doing both jobs for them at the moment, he needs to wake up.

Great goal from Sadio, hopefully their pressing will have tired them out a bit and we can get more of a grip on the game.

Yes you’re right .... if we play a decent team after 5000km travel and 120 minutes of football with 60 hours “rest” I suspect we might lose

Sadio Manè is on another level to the rest of the league lately, only Sterling (ironically the dude he replaced) comes close in form and quality.

Think we have struggled to hold onto the ball with their pressing, but we have done enough defensively to make it difficult for them to do much with the ball. Second half they will tire and we can throw fresh midfielders on to raise the intensity just when it doesn't suit them. Think we will take the 3pts here and ultimately that's all that matters after midweek who cares about the performance, it will come in time we just need the wins in the meantime.

Btw, Adrian is boss love him already you can see he's living the dream out there playing for Liverpool and another class save from him also, his confidence must be sky-high and we need it to be so well in.

We are incredibly lucky to have the best forward line in world football possibly. Our defence is being pinned back many times and that is probably down to our non-existent midfield. We need a second goal here to calm the nerves.

That has nothing to do with the structural issues we've had since early preseason, though. Our game plan is not quite together.

Sluggish performance, I guess it was always likely after mid week.

Southampton have played it quite smartly and sat back quite a bit, only selectively pressing. Our passing has been really poor and that in addition to winning no second balls in the middle of the pitch has given them the upper hand. Even though Adrian makes a good save, the co-ordination with the defence is not great, I guess he has had very little time to work with them.

Need to be much better in the second and improve the link between midfield and attack.

I really don't see the panic, we weren't exactly amazing early last season either and after 120 mins in Turkey on Wednesday after a less than ideal preseason what can you expect? If we're still playing like this in a few weeks time then it's time to worry.

Suspect we'll see Hendo and Fab 2nd half....
