Prof,

The bar charts are excellent. I check this thread every week!

Does the strike through text indicate anything? I notice that ManUtd's draw against WLV and Chelsea's draw against LEI are not struck through, but all other completed matches have been struck through. Were those par 1 matches that ended at par for the side?

Thanks!

No. There's nothing behind it.  There are a few of the rows where the conditional formatting didn't work.  I wonder if it's because the spreadsheet has too many conditional formatting rules for it to cope?  In the end I let it go.  Most get struck through but a few rows will miss that.

The green bars fill from the left to indicate the number of points won at home and away respectively.

The blue marker on those bars indicate where you need to get to for a 90 point season based on average performances of league winners.

The red fills from the right to indicate points that have been dropped, so essentially show the maximum points that can still be achieved at home and away respectively.

At the end of the season, the green and red bars meet at the points total achieved.

The teams are listed in order above the home bar and below the away bar.  They are in order from left to right based on their league position the previous season.  As each team is played, they get highlighted based on the result against them.  Green is a win, Amber a draw, red a loss.  Hopefully this shows who each team has still got to play and also a quick visual as to where points were lost.

And important to note that it is NOT the APLT scoring system of winning all your home games etc. The blue lines give that away I suppose.

It's just in the context of this though (which I love, no digs at the APLT here).

The Southampton game is treated as a gimme but doesn't take into context the extra time & pens for us 3 days prior or that it was their first home game of the season.

Similarly the Burnley game is treated as a 3 pointer because of their previous season, not their form in this.

If such a thing was possible I'd be viewing them as par 2s. Ie in the old days when 90 points won the title, 4 points from this two would have been OK.

Think we've done brilliantly to get to this stage with a hundred percent record off the back of the lack of rest and preparation in pre-season, early interruption of the Supercup and a couple of tricky aways.

Worrying Times.

As has been mentioned, we've played two tricky par 3 away games, and won them comfortably. Playing arsenal at ours is a gimme for us, but not for other sides.

Got to keep beating what's in front of us.

Didn’t realize we’d only played par 3 games so far

You take into account the Chelsea game and there where definitively missteps to be made which we avoided. Southampton as others have mentioned.

Its a case of getting the team actually bedded down (actually take that literally as I think by my reckoning most players had only had a few days at home between the start of June and the Southampton game), and getting them up to speed. Nice a few have the international break.

I think getting Ox, Keita and Becker back up to speed will be the next leg of the development. Got to imagine that Milner comes in for the Newcastle game and try and get Lallana on as soon as possible ahead of the Napoli and Chelsea games. Potentially Origi ahead of Firmino too.

They've done everything they can so far. Long may it continue.

Yeah, we've 5 in the first 19 games, and 7 in last 19. With 5 of those in the last 10 games.

City are the other way round, with 7 in first 19 and 5 in last 19. City have 3 in their last 10.

Reminds me of last years table - city's curve overlapped ours in the final furlong as they had their 'above par' games in the last 10 or so. Europe will be key, again.
3 midfielders minimum in the next window. And probably another young CB to boot.
