So who's the next big thing after Elliott? Have we got anyone likely at the moment?

Given that Elliott's not 17 years old yet, don't think the next one is legally allowed to be talked about on the internet.

I see 23’s play Arsenal today and there is no 18’s game. Line up will be interesting to see if many are rested before Shrewsbury match.
Also, hope to see Jones not involved today at Anfield so he stays and captains on Tuesday.

Well Lallana is back so I think he will be on the bench, maybe ahead of Jones.

Think a lot of the Under 18's will play for the Under 23's then. We can't really afford to risk injury considering the cup game is on Tuesday

Not really, no. Closest to what you describe is Liam Miller. We've really not produced any stand out wingers/wide forwards since the 96/97 group.

I sort of tuned out of the FA Cup selection thing after Klopp spoke about it. Are the likes of Elliot, Jones definitely going to be there on Tuesday? I'd hope so, even though it would have been nice for some returning squad players to get more minutes I've sort of just accepted it, think we stand a chance if the ones who've really made a mark in the cup games play, likes of the aforementioned Jones and Elliot, with the full backs. Excited to see Hoever too.

The 11 that played against Villa put a spirited performance in, but the likes of Jones and the Williams/Larouci didn't play. They should come in and improve us, hopefully Chirivella starts again too. Do think it's a winnable tie at Anfield.

Loads of changes, predictably.

https://www.flashscore.com/match/KCo1GtV2/#lineups;1

and apparently we're 2-0 up;

24' Boyes M.
(Longstaff L.)

43' Varesanovic D.
(Norris J.)

There was a two-minute interlude where Liverpool’s three-man attack squared up against United’s three-man defence and basically stalked them back into their own penalty area, like battle-hardened mountain wolves closing in on a flock of geriatric sheep.  Barney Ronay at Anfield @barneyronay Sun 19 Jan 2020 20.36 GMT

Got to think Jones, Elliot, and Williams have a very good chance of becoming first team players in the next couple of years.

I think those 3 are already in and around first team, its just about getting more gametime. Curtis will take Lallana's spot, Williams will take Clyne's. Elliot is also going to get time in the front 3 in the cups.

Its the ones that haven't had so much gametime that interested me. Kelleher is developing very nicely in the same style as Alisson and will probably get promoted to immediate backup in a couple season's time. Hoever and Van Den Berg were also excellent and there is room for them to get in as well in a couple season's time. Lewis was far more disciplined and intelligent with the ball than Larouci at left back, so if he can improve on his final product, he should be able to atleast get ahead of Larouci in the pecking order.

Jones, Williams and Elliott have such promise. Van den Berg was really good I thought too as well as Chiravella. Think those will given a few more opportunities in the season to come.

Tom Hill has just signed his first professional contract with the club, having just moved up into the under 18's team this season. Another attacking midfielder to keep an eye on.

I agree with Coolie, Cain and Clarkson play well together, they already have a great understanding. I thought the way they controlled the tempo of the game especially at the end was really impressive. So many youngsters to keep an eye on now, happy days.

In terms of potential and performance, is the age group from 16-22 the most talent the club have ever had?

I can't think of a time when LFC have had so many players in that age range, who you wouldn't be surprised if they established themselves in the first team, in years to come.

It’s not hyperbole, it’s the same when I said Harry Wilson was already the best free kick taker at the club....

There are not many better passers of the ball than these two even in the first team, this is not hyperbole it’s pretty conclusive if you have watched them play.

Oh lord please don’t start on these two  :butt

I think people have a hard time interpreting what I mean, but that’s on you not me, them being great passers of the ball doesn’t mean they will be world class players in our team, if you have a hard time understanding that then.....

Brannigan was a good passer of the ball, Suso was too, going further back so was Jon Welsh and neither made it here, Clarkson and Cain are great passers of the ball, as is Curtis Jones a great dribbler, and if I  made a similar statement about Curtis Jones already being one of the best dribblers in the squad last year I’m sure I would illicit the same response, but it’s true...

I like the look of Layton Stewart whose a forward in the under 18's. He scored a hat trick last time out against Sunderland, has an eye for the spectacular. He gets a mention on the video below alongside his striking partner Fidal O'Rourke.

https://youtu.be/Fd4gV8Zy9tA

His last goal against Sunderland finished in 5th place on goal of the month on LFCTV.
