The Barmy Army have been tweeting about boycotting the S*n. Hopefully our campaigners can get in touch and the Barmy Army can help facilitate a boycott to the wider cricketing community to build on the work already done

Hopefully, bit by bit, person by person, the existence of rags like this will be eliminated. However they are being replaced by websites and twitter accounts that prostitute themselves for followers. Unless people waken up and stop reading rubbish then this nonsense will carry on. Even worse, people repost stuff that is full of lies and then others believe it (cos the internet doesn't tell lies).

This pathetic newspaper exists because people read it. The root cause is the people who read it plus the lack of any morals by the newspaper.......the pursuit of money justifies everything to them.

You are what your record says you are. Great to retain the ashes, would have been amazing to win the series.

Seen the likes of Root, Buttler and Fairbrother (think he manages a few of them) retweeting and supporting Stokes so hopefully that message gets spread far and wide.

Quite right.

I’m fucking disgusted.

Great response from stokes and the ECB, but they should never have needed too.

His poor family having this dragged out.

The ECB need to follow ours and Evertons lead by banning the Sun from reporting at every home ground Englands cricket team play.

Happy to say I have no idea what these private matters are that the Scum have "reported" on. I don't intend to find out, and I trust that no one here will elaborate.

The new contracts announced - predictably Archer gets a central contract in all forms and Burns gets a Test contract. Denly gets a limited overs one but not Test, which if anything I'd have thought might be the other way round. Harsh on Plunkett to lose his I think.

Ed smith still looking after his mate then! Considering denly didn't make the world cup squad I can't see how he's got a white ball deal.

Presumably they're moving on from the plunk now. I can understand that in a way.

It is understandable age wise - but considering the pattern of the World Cup was "we lost if he didn't play" it seems slightly premature.

Plunkett's been magnificent but perhaps they will be looking to move into a new phase. I don't see him playing in India in four years time.

Denly's received an incremental red ball one and that's what it should have been for now - recognition of some nice runs at the end of the series, with work still to do. The awarding of a white ball contract is a bizarre choice.

Bairstow left out of the NZ tour.

Sibley, Crawley, Parkinson and Mahmood all called up, and Pope tours too. Good to see form rewarded, we needed to make those changes

Jimmy left out but hopes to be fit for SA

Not sure whether to keep this thread going for winter or start another one but the NZ test and T20 squads were announced today.

No Bairstow in the test squad. Buttler will keep wicket. Matthew Parkinson and Saqib Mahmood (both Lancs), Dom Sibley, Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope come in

Mahmood has been very good in the limited overs stuff. He’s been behind Onions, Gleeson and Bailey in the pecking order in the county championship. Seems a talent though: https://mobile.twitter.com/lancscricket/status/1176134324523098117

And pleased for Parkinson although doubt he’ll play in a NZ spring. Seems a wicket taker though (although DRS might have been called in the first clip if it were a Test!... https://mobile.twitter.com/lancscricket/status/1176134691835056130

A fresh start with a new one might make sense unless you just rename this one to something more generically about England international cricket.

Stokes half century. 98 to win but the Aussies need 4 wickets, Woakes not looking comfortable against the short ball. Not sure we've got much hope here.

Just watched 'The Edge' - excellent !! I was really touched when they were discussing the mental health side and how many players had developed issues, particularly Jonathan trott, he must have suffered a lot. I think KP suffered a lot too but it never seems to have been recognised due to his 'strong' personality. Personally I've a lot of time for KP and think it is a shame when people only remember his bad points.

ECB proposing England players isolate together for 9 weeks, and play at Old Trafford and the Ageas Bowl as they have onsite hotels in order to get the Test Matches played this summer.

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/may/06/england-cricketers-face-bio-secure-tests-nine-week-break-from-families-for-summer-tests-cricket

Up to 30 blokes effectively "touring", but without the odd day/night out, effectively living at the grounds and living and breathing cricket for 2 months.  I hope they all get on...
