how did you get interest in following American football, especially at the university level?

I watched the Junior World Championships of American Football this summer (well the final game, where the US beat Canada) and I noticed that Sweden made it to the finals

Oregon. The NCAA will fuck him over for life! I would imagine the bad press will lead to him being kicked out of school full-stop.

Since I am going to the University of Cincinnati I can only hope that they repeat their good run last year that saw them make it to the Orange Bowl. Got a few friends on the team as well. I think I am going to be camping out at 8 am to get myself a ticket. They are free to students so I can't complain right?

I caught it on NASN (now ESPN America) one day and I was hooked.

Blount is a complete dumb ass. He was flapping his gums all summer about how they were going to give Boise an "ass-whuping." Well, he was held for negative rushing yardage for the game. Hout, the Boise State player, isn't blameless in this, though. He tapped Blount's shoulder and said something to Blount. You can see a Boise State coach grab his player right before Blount sucker punches him. Had Blount left it at that he may have gotten off with a four game suspension. It was everything that happened after the punch that warranted the year suspension. Punching his own teammates, lunging at the fans, and generally needing four or five people to get him to the locker room.

Blount isn't a model player, though. He was suspended over the summer because he missed team meetings and workouts. The university couldn't blame this on the heat of the moment. I really hope that the NFL teams have enough sense not to draft this idiot.

Aside...

Oregon should be suspended for the year due to those monstrosities that they call uniforms.

first of all, Oklahoma  and Oklahoma State are 2 different institutions

2nd, the person was asking which one of the two schools were more likely to win their respective games, Alabama away to Virginia Tech or OKlahoma State, who is hosting Georgia.

One thing here, the Alabama - Virginia Tech Game is being played in Atlanta, GA, a neutral site. Tech may be listed as the home team, but that's only for uniform choice.

ESPN says there are whispers in the OU camp that Sam Bradford might have a torn rotator cuff and that would end his season.

Kind of takes the shine off my trip to Dallas to see Texas stomp all over OU.

Hope it's not true and he can bounce back quickly - I like and respect bradford even though he is a dirty Sooner

ESPN.com probably has the best overview, just go to college football section.

ncaafootball.com also has all the stats

what was the score last year.

Skins cut Daniel today, but I think they are looking to put him on the practice squad because we also put Brennan on IR

09 Season about to start.  First time in history the top three Heisman candidates (McCoy, Bradford and Tebow) return to battle it out again.   Really looking forward to this season - Hook'em

AP Top 25 Preseason

1   Florida (58)
2   Texas (2)
3   Oklahoma
4   USC
5   Alabama
6   Ohio State
7   Virginia Tech
8   Mississippi
9   Oklahoma State
9   Penn State
11   LSU
12   California
13   Georgia
14   Boise State
15   Georgia Tech
16   Oregon
17   TCU
18   Florida State
19   Utah
20   Brigham Young
21   North Carolina
22   Iowa
23   Notre Dame
24   Nebraska
25   Kansas

If the team's not even on that list does that mean they suck more than all those 25 teams? For example Memphis?

That usually means they did better in a harder conference then teams not on the list. They aren't always better but most of the time yes.
