I've got to say ... that exterior is magnificent and it shouts "Anfield" without mistake.

It kind of reminds me of the old standing Kop exterior in some ways, brick-built being the key.

yeh thought the same about old kop. looks brilliant

So what are the the facilities in the regular main stand like now? Are all the nice photos of lovely looking bars with San Miguel just for the hospitality people or if I get a ticket in the main do I get a nice choice of food beer and seating pre match?

don't think that is the case mate - look at this pic, and you can see the grey wall is from the pic uncle bob posted - and also how elevated the Premium/Corporate seats are in comparison to the 'normal' seats which are next to it - and how difficult/restricted the view may be sat there:-

a shame the elevated position wasn't continued all the way across to the end of the stand to try and minimise the restricted views for those sat next to it.

I don't think it would be too difficult to raise the seats to the stair well to the right, at least. It would need regular complaints to the club from different supporters affected in this area. surely it would cost too much money to rectify???

Far better in terms of Access, only 3/4 deep queuing at peak times , but stock levels/service needs some works, bars went dry of beer at half time in the lower tier. Sure they'll work it out in the coming weeks.

You mean raise all the seats right to the end left and right? Yeah that would solve it but how come the fantastic designers didn't think of that beforehand? Why raise that section in the first place anyway? Would like to hear some comments from some of our resident architects on here about this shambles.

The corp section was reprofiled to allow for extra leg room, and this was done on top of the existing terrace.

Shouldn't be too hard to raise the two small sections either side of this so they are on a similar level, but it's definitely an over sight which you'd expect to have been noticed.

Hard to say without more information. Generally they would check the views on a 3D model.

I was surprised when I first say the picture because it looked like the viewpoint was six feet below the adjoining row and assumed it was someone having a moan for no reason but it does look like there's a real issue. The only thing I can assume is that they did the sightlines in section (looking straight ahead) and didn't account for the vomitory walls and/or the corporate seating next door.

As I said, without more info it would be unfair to slag off the architects and the reality of architecture is that a lot of projects are a one-off and you simply cannot spend the fees to check absolutely everything*. Sometimes things are unforeseen and they have to be picked up after completion. If the view's as bad as unclebob's photo then they'll need to fix it.

*If the fees for architecture were in proportion to something like the fees for designing a car, the fees for the Main Stand would be in the billions.

edit - and the Main Stand is not 'a shambles'. It's a great bit of stadium architecture with some teething problems.

Were the corporate sections in the lower tier added due to larger than expected demand - i seem to remember something like that? - might well explain the oversight.

Thought they were always there, as that's where the Director's box is, and always planned to have hospitality suites under the middle tier.

The main stand looks fantastic, I honestly don't think we need much more work to get the ground spot on, in my opinion and it is just an opinion the anfield road stand obviously is a definite as its bloody awful and then the Kop just straighten it at the back and maybe extend slightly to raise the roof to the height of the centenary stand would be perfect, is it possible to do that without affecting Walton breck road. Basically extending the overhang that the Kop already has, I am no architect so don't know if this is possible, it's just to me looking at all the pictures having the Kop roof the same height as the centenary would improve the look, but my skills don't run beyond helping the kids with Lego.

Took about 10 minutes getting used to it but i actually really enjoyed it. The old camera angle was too low to get a really good idea of the whole goings on on the pitch. Would be a bit crap on a poor stream on mobile as you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between players but that's about it. Twitter will moan about it for the first few games then no one will care.

Liverpool have always had a high TV camera angle at Anfield.  The relatively low old Main Stand roof had the gantry almost on top of the near-side touchline, forcing cameras to often zoom to quite a wide angle if a quick move was taking place up that side, while the new one appears to pull it up and away, with the TV cameras now on the leading edge of the upper deck and no longer suspended from the roof.  Personally I prefer the lower angle you used to get at Highbury but I'm used to watching TV with the high Anfield angle . . . it doesn't look to me as though there's that much difference with the new stand and what difference there is, it's for the better.  It looks like more of a flat, telephoto perspective with the camera being farther away but at more or less the same angle relative to the centre circle with, if anything, a more relaxed viewing angle for near-side action. In any case, it makes for a more even view of all parts of the field.

It would be hugely expensive to do that to the Kop, and the return would be a small number of seats that would be the cheapest in the ground, so it just doesn't stack up.

Yes, our delivery from corners is shocking. I could do without seeing it hit the first man as well. £9 for that though is a great opportunity if the club are prepared to guarantee the tickets to local youth.
