Fantastic centre back on his day, could have been so much mor if not for injuries. It's a shame.

Good luck to him.

Thanks for the '07 Semi final goal against Chelsea.

Shame injuries never allowed him to reach his full potential.

Will be sorely missed. He already is in Liverpool, I suppose, but now we won't get to see him on the national team or in Brøndby either. Such a shame that his body couldn't cope anymore. I hope he goes into punditry or coaching now, but from what he's said earlier that doesn't seem very likely.

Would imagine him opening his own tattoo parlor ;D

Probably my favorite player for the club in my lifetime. All the best, Danny!

Just saw this. The first thing I thought of was his goal vs Chelsea.
Unfortunate to have carried so many injuries.

My absolute favourite Liverpool player of the last decade. Unlike all the others - Suarez, Torres, Masch, Xabi, etc., he never wanted to leave. Liverpool wasn't a stepping stone for him. I'll never forget when he was linked with Barca and City, and went out and got YNWA tattooed on his fingers. Such a shame the injuries prevented him from being more important than he was.

But unlikely:

Quote

"I'm the same quiet, private person as when I lived in Denmark and I can't imagine ever changing," Agger told the Daily Mail.

"I love playing, and I am enjoying being at Liverpool, but I don't like what goes with it.

"I know it probably sounds strange, but I have no real interest in football, aside from playing.
"And there are red and white scarves of Liverpool, and red and white bobble hats of Liverpool, and red and white rosettes of Liverpool, and nothing else. And the sun shines now."

Should have been in his peak for a centre back at 31. Shame that, had the potential to be among the best centre backs in the world, and for a while at least, could count himself near that bracket. Never had the body / genetics?, luck for contact sport though, so many injuries...

Absolute pleasure watching him play for us, here's to a healthy life away from the game at least Danny.

Real shame that injuries curtailed Daniel's career so much - a real high-quality member of the team whenever he had a run for us.

Both his quality and commitment will be long-remembered...encouragingly, we saw Lovren, Sakho, and Toure all demonstrate that standard during 2015/16, and here's hoping that Gomez and Matip can follow suit in the coming years too.

Can't help but think that, had things coincided a little differently, Agger and Klopp would have worked well together.

Here's hoping we see Agger supporting the Reds at Anfield once again in the coming season.

Fucking awesome player.

Just ebayed one of my old shirts with his name on, sold yesterday. Kinda wish I'd waited a couple of days  :-\
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Happy retirement Dagger. Another player I'd bring back as an ambassador in an instant, see how he gets in with his coaching. He gets it.
If I were a linesman, I would execute defenders who applauded my offsides.

Feels rare in the modern age that someone can come in ar a young age and from an unheralded League yet just look like he belongs from the off.

The Chelsea goal,  the Torres forearm,  the strolling out from the back, telling a United player (Nani?) to "play fucking football" instead of diving around the place. A refreshing throwback and a thoroughly modern player at the same time.

I was fortunate to be at the Blackburn game on the 20th anniversary whether lashed in a screamer.

Have a long and happy well earned retirement Daniel!

In a world of 18 year-old's wanting £100k a week, players diving around like fannies and ego's the size of a small planet, Dagger's humble nature stood him in good stead. It will continue to do so. A baby-faced assassin, looks like a hipster but is hard as fucking nails on the pitch. The Torres swipe alone was worth the admission fee.

Agger will sadly be filed under the 'what if...?' category, and 31 ain't an age for a footballer to be retiring, but he knows his body better than anyone else. A crying shame, but most kids aspiring to be pro's would kill for the career he's had. Amazing memories of that left peg, proper decent fella, hope he goes on to do other great things in his life.

A proper red, cheers Dan!
