Just had a phone call off me mate who's got his hands on a spare for this one. About to fuck off work early and get the train down. Never been Chelsea before, i'm going to sink a couple of beers on the train and i reckon i'll be in a boozer near (though not too near i hear) the ground by six. Cannot fucking wait!

24 hours is nowhere close to being enough time to recuperate. I don't know what kind of routines and medics we have, but when I used to play there was no chance that I could play 48 hours after a game. I would just not be able to run enough. Amazingly 72 hours later I would be able to play with no hint of tiredness.

I rather have a 'weaker' side out there with good fitness levels than our 'strongest' side playing while being shattered and running the risk of being injured.

No point having our best players out there if they can't match Chelsea's legs.

This was posted in the bets thread.

Looking around on some Chelsea forums, Turnbull, McEacharan, Bertrand, Fereira, Romeu, Lukaku and Kalou are the changes they'll be making. Most common line-up seems to be:

                     Turnbull

    Fereira - Alex - Luiz - Bertrand

   Lampard - McEacharan - Romeu

      Kalou - Lukaku - Malouda

any idea is theyre going to play that kind of team? I'll put the mockers on it, but thats very beatable, surely?

No way players like suarez or lucas should have any part in the match. Give them a rest and let the likes of bellamy, carroll, spearing and henderson play.

No Torres? Not wanting to carry on what's going on in the Torres thread but he didn't start on Saturday, it would be very surprising if he didn't start today.

Unless, he's injured, I'd be certain that he would at some point. It's the best way for him to get match fitness and/or be put in the shop window

If even young Lukaku is picked ahead of him.. Think he might as well leave if he won't play tonight.

Enjoy it.  It's a good ground for the travelling Kop as the Chelsea fans are usually pretty quiet (when they aren't booing) and easily outsung.  Never been to the surrounding pubs so can't comment on that.

It all depends how they're bodies can cope.

We'll see a strong team tonight IMO.

I don't understand why people don't want us to field our strongest team
Chelsea's banking on that, I'm shitting you not. They are grieving and aching for it. You can smell the saliva- and hear it dripping. Ready to murder us...
I can hear it now... "Knackered Liverpool knocked out by resurgent Chelsea"...

^think that's pretty likely. AVB has insisted he'll play young players regardless what happens. Of course he could change his mind though.

Against Fulham: Cech (c) (Turnbull h-t); Ferreira, Alex, David Luiz, Bertrand; McEachran (Terry 51), Romeu, Malouda; Sturridge (Lampard 43), Lukaku, Kalou.
Against Everton: Turnbull; Ivanovic, Alex, David Luiz, Bertrand; McEachran (Mikel 63), Romeu, Malouda (c); Anelka, Lukaku (Cech 59), Kalou (Sturridge 85).

If that's a precedent we'll probably see Cech, Ferreira, Alex, Luiz, Bertrand, McEachran, Romey, Malouda, Lukaku, Kalou and either Sturridge or Anelka, with my money being on the latter.
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence.

You think that, but when you actually start playing you realize that you can't. That is exactly the reason why I said it is nowhere enough time. I bet if you go and play a 90 minutes tonight, you would understand what I am saying. Of course, I was not a professional footballer and you may be right that they can cope better, but I still doubt it. They would not be even 75%.

Plus looking at their fixtures, they have Newcastle away on saturday (lunchtime kick off), then Valencia at home tuesday evening, where they need a result.

I can understand them using this game to rest players.

Adding onto that, their subs bench could look like this -

Cech, Mikel, Anelka, Torres, Ivanovic, Bosingwa, Mata.

Think one of Mikel, Anelka and Torres may start though.

I had a game saturday and sunday and coached the kids last night, could I play again today? Yes. But the difference in being 95% in non-proffesional footy is not the same as being 95% in a professional game, away at Chelsea - those that tire quickly will stand out like a sore thumb.

Thought we may have had news of the squad traveling down by now.  Think I will catch this on LFCTV's radio coverage. Steve Hunter is a good commentator and quite passionate about LFC too. Sadly for away games it's normally just him and he does not have an ex player as co-commentator.

The TV companies  and FA have messed this one up big time. .

^think that's pretty likely. AVB has insisted he'll play young players regardless what happens. Of course he could change his mind though.

I think the pressure he is under will probably see him change his mind and put a strong side out. Will be a test to see how he copes with the pressure too...I mean will pressure from the media and call-in fans influence his decisions

Talking about changing minds...hope king Kenny will change his mind as he did say he was going to play a weakened side when he was giving the FA and TV companies a bollocking.

This is incredibly our 30th time playing Chelsea since 2004.
Terry is suspended and Meireles is cup-tied for them.

Aye.

Soccernet don't have a clue, that's just a guess at the team from them. Last season vs Sunderland away I think, they had Lucas playing as a CB in a 5-3-2 formation.

Seriously? 30 times?

League, 0405 56 67 78 89 910 11 =13
Champions league, 05, groups in 0506, 07 09 =8
League cup, final 05, this year = 2
FA Cup, 06 =1
Community shield 06 = 1

Thats 25. Im guessing ive missed some more cup games?

Agger hasn't travelled apparently, so I doubt he's playing.

Also if Torres plays, which I fully expect, he's going to be a non-factor. Cheslea would be better off not playing him.
