It does help when they play until Leverkusen score though.

You can’t buy that kind of resilience. Do hope he becomes our manager one day.

But hopefully we’ll have some good times with Slot in the mean time

I wouldn’t like to look at it like that. Ideally Slot’s brilliant and it never needs to happen. But if things don’t work out at some point in the future, be good if the stars align

Hopefully he has a shit season next season and we do really well. Show him what he's missing. He will no doubt end up at Madrid with all the other mercenaries though

Ideally he gets Madrid out the way first. If he is to be our manager one day we don’t want the possibility of him going there hanging over us the whole time

Would he go to City next if they are eventually punished?

Alonso has done an amazing job but their current run does feel a little freakish with all the late leveller's and winners etc. It is just not sustainable.

You seem convinced he'll end up at City at some point but predicting the manager marry go around at big clubs is a bit of fools errand really - I mean how many people on here had even heard of Arne Slot a few days ago let alone had him marked out as potential Liverpool manager?

When did Mainz get Bo Henriksen in?

13th February

Mainz have appointed Bo Henriksen as their new head coach, with the Dane signing a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2026.

The 49-year-old joins the 05ers from FC Zürich, having previously managed Brønshøj, Horsens and Midtjylland in his homeland across an 18-year career that followed a long spell as a player.

He replaces Jan Siewert, who won just one of his 12 games in charge of the club, at the MEWA Arena.

As there was talk about Rangnick earlier in the thread, I had an interesting recommendation on Youtube. It's an old clip from an old German TV show (that still exists these days) from 1998, where Rangnick explains what playing with 4 defenders means (compared to using the old system with a sweeper), what zonal marking is about and he even talks about "pressing". It's in German, but there are English subs.

That's why he's still seen as the "football professor" in Germany despite his stint at Man Utd being an absolute desaster. Looking at what he has been and still is doing with the Austrian national team, he still has "it" in my view. That's why him going to Bayern wouldn't necessarily be that bad a decision in my view from their point of view. Not so sure about him, because he'd trade in overachieving with Austria with being under huge pressure with Bayern.

Although talks are reportedly ongoing, I think it's interesting that he's been taking his time to consider it and there was a quote I read after he let Austria know about the contact with Bayern that pretty much felt like he'd have to decide whether all the scrutiny/pressure, media circus etc. would be worth it to him.

I think the predicament Bayern are in can be traced back to Flick jumping ship to take over the national team. I know Bayern had coveted Nagelsmann for years, but perhaps him taking over in 2021 was perhaps a season or two too early. Tuchel just isn't a long-term fit (not like any Bayern manager can be legitimately viewed as such). Now they are stuck in a situation in which their likely preferred candidates (Alonso, Klopp) aren't interested and they seem unwilling to take a risk on and an up and coming manager. Nagelsmann decided to renew his deal with Germany rather than go back. Rangnick is a short-term solution, but I'd like to think he's going to want certain concessions in order to be convinced to take over the job. It won't be about money and if anything having someone who has been at the forefront of data, recruitment and tactics over the past two decades might give Bayern the reshuffle they need.
