the commentary teams over the last couple of matches have acted as tho joe was down the pecking order with various comments regarding he's playing well, making life difficult for klopp when matip is fit again etc, when he was clearly VVD's partner before the injury, those two are our two main cbs and i've no idea why pundits and commentators aren't aware of this, at least the commentator last nite acknowledged that he had partnered VVD well in the pastanyway, long may it continue (the partnership that is, not the lazy journalism)
United used to win titles on easy street, time for us to take over that real estate
Matip has been first choice for a while. But Gomez has been amazing since coming back in.
I think the truth is closer to Van Dyk is the ever present CB plus whoever is fit and in their best form. Right now it happens to be Gomez. But if he gets injured or loses form, then in comes Matip or Lovren (unfortunately both are injured currently). It is incumbent on these 3 CBs to show the continued excellence to be regarded as Van Dyk's permanent partner and none of them have anchored it yet. Clearly Gomez's youth and higher potential and ceiling gives him the edge to wrap that race up in his favour ultimately.
Never seen him playing I think. But looks like a good player.
Been in great form and showed up again tonight. Would have gained invaluable experience leading that young defence to a clean sheet.
Crosby Nick never fails.
Guided Nate Phillips through a sticky start whilst oozing class and dominance. A really, really, majestic performance from the 22 year old
We are a team of leaders.
Best English CB bar none.
In such a sumptuous festival of shite, I wouldn't be so quick to pick a winner..But he'd make the shortlist
Definitely noticed that in him today, he had to be and basically looked like another Van Dijk - might be partly down to him moving into the left centre back and bossing it.
They lock everything on RAWK, unless it's some long winded, pretentious 'tactical' assessment or a pithy in joke from one of their mates.
