Another good performance, I somehow feel more comfortable watching the match when he's in the line-up.

Good to see him rifle a shot for that free kick. Did a little Roberto Carlos run up too. Nice.

His intelligence is no surprise to be honest. Always been a skillful player with good movement. What's surprised me most is how much of a grafter he is on top. Talk of him going missing for various games, in particular away from home, is out the window.

Funnily enough so far it's the games that he's missed where you notice what he does or what he can do the most, if you get what I'm saying?

He ghosts into great positions and acts as a link between midfield and the more forward players. That link was sorely missed in the United match. I like him and think he's beginning to come into his own.

I thought he was brilliant tonight. He kept the whole show on the road.

He's got a bit of Lucas, the brain and the spatial awareness, with a touch of Molby, the quick silky feet, a dab of Ronnie Whelan (being good at something that no-one can quite figure out) he runs and runs and I have a feeling there will be a smattering of Terry Macs finishing on the way.

It hasn't taken him long to cement a place in the first team. It will be difficult for the likes of Can to dislodge him. He's a very tidy player, works hard and has good head on his shoulders. I think we'll see a lot more from him as he settles in. He's more capable in the final third than he's shown so far. Once he gets his first goal, I think he'll score a fair few.

Really smart and hard working player, almost invariably making the right decision in terms of passing and movement. His versatility is also a plus. Can't see him getting dropped from the starting 11 once he regains full fitness.

Not saying it isn't but the next game is in four days, he's just played 90 after returning from injury and the midfield looked really strong against West Brom so no great reason to drop any of them. He could play of course since there's a full week off after that game but I wouldn't call it a certainty.

When we signed him I was a little baffled. Not because I thought he wasn't a good player but because I didn't really see what he gave us that we didn't already have. I thought he was yet another player who's best work comes in the attacking midfield areas.

But now it's clear to see why Klopp signed him. He gives us great energy and power in the midfield, his defensive work is a lot better than I thought it was and is so neat and tidy in possession, even in the tight areas of the pitch.

Looks a great addition to the team.

Top class, this lad. His ability to turn on the ball and play in tight areas is something we've lacked for quite some time. He never seems flustered, even when surrounded by his opponents. Doesn't mind getting stuck into the tackle either.

He was well and truly off the pace in the first half, which led us to being a bit ragged in the latter half of the period.

Second half he found his rhythm and dictated play in a way he hadn't yet done in the league. He showed that when he's the senior CM, he can step it up with the playmaking duties in Lallana/Henderson's absence.

Very nice to see. Expect to see him starting again this weekend.

Think Can will start for the simple reason that Palace are another set piece team and Can gives us another areal presence when defending set pieces

The one thing I have observed watching Wijnaldum is that he has something so many footballers of today are lacking. 1 thing that made players like Dalglish, Pele, Molby, Alonso, Zidane and Gerrard as well as many many others, and that is football intelligence. Now before you read on I am NOT comparing Gini to these players or their achievements but just the one thing that they all have had in common. The understanding of what to do with the ball at the right time in the right place.

For example Jordan Ibe and Raheem Sterling are fantastic dribblers but because of their lack of game intelligence they used to run into blind alleys and into dead ends because they lacked that basic game intelligence. Even Coutinho STILL has moments when he tries to do that little bit too much. But when you have the right understanding, the right mentality you know EXACTLY when to pass, hold onto, dribble or shoot with that ball. Now I am not a manager or a coach - I am just a football fan, but in my opinion the one attribute that makes the best ever players, and the one attribute that makes me happy to watch said players, is that 1 common feature they all had - football intelligence.

This is something Wijnaldum has. He knows when to pass the ball, that pass for Sturridge's 2nd goal. He didn't wait he didn't dither - bang straight into Danny's path. The West Brom game- he had a good chance to score and he took it - unfortunately the curl on the ball wasn't executed that he tried and he didn't get his goal but the idea and vision was there for the right thing at the right time. Crossing the ball for Lallana to score vs Arsenal and then picking the tiny lil pass to Lallana again vs Leicester for Adam to score again, shows he has vision and football intelligence.

I hope he can become as influential as the players I have mentioned as they were all 1 step ahead  or 3 even of the opposition, and this is what set them apart from the rest.

It has not been long since he joined but I can see him becoming an important cog in the Klopp footballing machine, more so than Henderson, Milner, or Can, all of whom have on their day shown they have some degree of vision and intelligence to play the game easily, but all on an inconsistent basis. Gini, I hope, will do it regularly and efficiently so that he becomes a legend in football but also for Liverpool.

This post may seem like I am appraising him too much that I am comparing him to legends in the game, he may never ever reach those heights - like Klopp didn't, he may never have the footballing ability to become like those legends, but I really do see a person who makes the game look easy because of that 1 attribute of understanding how the game should be played.

He isn't inspiring like Gerrard, or have that amazing pass like Alonso and he definitely doesn't have Zidane's dribbling ability, but there is something about him that is goes largely unseen and yet he gets in the right positions and delivers the right ball.

He has room to develop, he has weaknesses I am sure and strengths too, but when it comes to how you play the game upstairs - that's a natural ability that you either have or you don't and thankfully I think he really does have it.

I just hope he can keep getting better and better and better for us. The pundits and commentators were all praising Sturridge last night as he did have a v good game. But Gini stood out for me over Danny. Long may it continue!

Intelligence wise, you can name Suarez there. He's the most intelligent player I've seen when he's not losing his head. Knowing when to put pressure, when to dribble, when to shoot, when to pass, to hold on the ball, when to fall down, when to simulate an injury, when to handball etc... understanding the game from A to Z.
I'll say Gini is an intelligent player in his passing and movement on and off the ball, beside this he's an honest player.

He reminds me of Seedorf. Technically brilliant without being flashy with the intelligence and balance of aggression to defend and attack well to be a key cog in a great team.

Based on yesterday, he has to start against Palace. Was so, so good. Covered every blade of grass, rarely lost the ball, comfortable in tight positions, perfect through ball. It's now whether he can deliver this kind of game away from home and also I'd like to see him play more through balls when they're on.

Thought he grew into the game. He seems to have this ability to glide across the pitch and he has the physical build of a 1970s player. An under the radar player.

Funnily enough so far it's the games that he's missed where you notice what he does or what he can do the most, if you get what I'm saying?

He ghosts into great positions and acts as a link between midfield and the more forward players. That link was sorely missed in the United match. I like him and think he's beginning to come into his own.
Completely true

I hadn't considered him more than a 'body' until I went down and watched the WBA game. Can started and wasn't bad (it was a good team performance after all) and offered a real physical presence in the middle. The problem though was he was just that touch too slow and tended to slow the game down when he received the ball. When Wijnauldum came on the difference was immediate, the ball was snapping out in quick passes, he movement and positioning was more dangerous.
Beatings will continue until morale improves...
