The interesting thing about this thread is that despite all that is being said, every single week there has been something else absolutely batshit to explain away/discuss/talk about.

That in itself is fucking weird.

And, of course, no one in the thread disagrees with that. There might be occasional disputes about whether this or that was a hand ball and should haver been a penalty or whether this or that was a genuine foul or a dive. But on the whole everyone in the thread thinks that refereeing standards are poor and that VAR has probably made them worse. (I would add that VAR and - obviously - multi-positioned high-speed cameras around the pitch, have also educated us, the fans, who are able to spot more 'batshit' decisions than before.)

Where we differ and sometimes fall apart are over why terrible decisions are being made and whether we, as a club, suffer more than others and have systematically suffered more than others over the years.

We finished 5th last season on 67 points with Klopp as manager and with players like Salah and Virgil a year or two younger.
Look at the midfield we had then and now, its night and day. We are a top no6 short but we have quality and options everywhere else.

It's difficult to pin down targets, as the initial results may be up and down (remember beating Arsenal away in 2016 then losing to Burnley?). If the football is looking good then there is a base to work from even if results are mixed.

Thats with a practically finished midfield off the back of a much more taxing season than this. Despite all that we finished 5th.

We have a group of younger players who now have an extra years experience. If we finish 5th in that context then it isn;t good enough.

Top 4 is an absolute minimum for me. We are in a much better place squad wise from when Klopp took over. With the right spends we can have a good go at the cups and also have a good run at the league.

Agreed. We have a very good squad that needs a bit of strengthening. On our day we can compete with any team in Europe. I do feel that we have a lot of injuries and we lose energy towards the end of the season. Maybe a change in style will help that.

We cannot rest on our laurels and let the squad age. We need to keep refreshing it and improving it.

That's not true. For an unknown reason, people go extra hard on him (our fanbase and outsiders). Actually, some can't wait for him to do something they perceive as wrong so they can have a go at him. I'm alluding to anything, but there's a pattern.
Salah sure set them up for a tap-in though

yeah that's the place. bugger that.

Yeah fuck that place, the amount of times I got struck by lightning the second I got out of a fight was ridiculous. I need to go back through it again when I'm done backtracking too!

You're going pretty much down the route I took. First a DEX build, but I later switched to bleed focus, ie Rivers of Blood build. It makes the end game bit of ajoke to be honest, I chopped Malenia (late game boss) like she was made from wet paper. But pure DEX is fine as well.

Arteta is a c*nt but he is one hell of a coach. I still maintain that at both ends of the field Arsenal don't have top quality but what he has done has been able to build a system which suffocates most Premier League sides, so much so that they don't need an absolute elite backline/goalkeeper or striker.

That would not work in Europe however and in the CL, where you need to have both a system and that individual quality. But for the Premier League its been highly effective.
Sorry, but that's nonsense.

You mean the thunder plains? I swear it's bugged when playing the remaster on PS5, I struggle to even dodge it once. Older games often had their framerates locked and the game speed would be tied to it, so if the game runs at a higher framerate the window to press the button could be shorter.

yeah that's the place. bugger that.
