In the build up to Sundays match what mustn't be forgotten is that in 89 the reason we played Forest was because they went to Old Trafford in the previous round and beat United. United dominated that game but lost 1-0 against the run of play. United were a home FA Cup tie away from being in that Hillsborough Semi Final.

Rangers had the 66/96 banner on pitch before the cup game vs Queen of the South, and a minutes since was held in honour of the 96.

I know this has been mentioned before and some of our fans may not like this, but would be good to see a Hillsborough banner alongside one for Munich, that would forever show our class to the world!
[/quote]

Desi Kopite this is a wonderful gesture you suggest but forgive me if I disagree. It's not about United. We all know the players and officials at both ends of the East Lancs get on very well and it wouldn't surprise me if LFC (who in my opinion have handled Hillsborough with incredible dignity) offered such a gesture but I sincerely hope with all of my heart that it would be very politely declined. Liverpool FC shouldn't have to 'give ground' to appease the United fans there on Sunday. There are deep wounds ingrained in the fabric of both clubs and I've watched this and experienced it festering over the last 38 years as a match-going United fan, but this is about Hillsborough not Munich.

The report is a massive victory for your fans (and lets be honest, decent people everywhere) and you as a club should be allowed to express relief at complete vindication (and what I hope is the start of closure for many) without having to acknowledge the loss suffered by a rival club.

I've just watched the 'Hillsborough Remembered' programme from the 20th anniversary on Sky Anytime. Watching Trevor Hicks describing losing his daughters and having to make that horrendous choice between Vicky and Sarah reduced me and my wife to floods of tears. We have young kids and the thought of life without them just has me in bits.

I want you to know that I'm not being sycophantic when I acknowledge that it's safe to take my son to Old Trafford now because of Hillsborough. He gets to see the game, he isn't under threat and his life isn't in any danger. That has been made possible by the fans of Liverpool Football Club and is a wonderful and poignant legacy that my son will never be allowed to forget, either by his Mum or me. Your sacrifice was huge. Your suffering ongoing, but your legacy will last forever. It's beyond me how any United fan with kids could ever doubt that...

Lets not forget AC Milan fans , who broke off in their Europen Cup semi final ( against Real?) a few days after Hillsborough  to sing YNWA...and 23 years on it still stands out as an act of class.

I was at Bristol Rovers vs Fleetwood yesterday and the very final song that came on as the players came out of the tunnel was You'll Never Walk Alone...thought it was a very unexpected but nice little gesture, particularly from a club who are out of the limelight completely and didn't "have" to do anything.

Aye mate - they lost 21 fans back in 1981 - Gate 7 : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karaiskakis_Stadium_disaster

In 2007 when we went to Athens for the Final they were really great with us - genuine understanding and empathy with them. There's probably a few threads on here about it from that time. Good lads.

If my assistant had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty and sent off goalkeeper Patr Cheh. he beeped me to signal the foul. The noise from the crowd  stopped me hearing it, I have been involved at places like Barcelona, Ibrox, Old Trafford, Arsenal, but I've never in my life been involved in such an atmosphere. IT WAS INCREDIBLE
